Right hand diamond ring...

So I recently had a conversation with one of my co-workers. She saw that I have a diamond ring on the ring finger of my right hand and goes, "Oh, that is the new craze, ever single woman is defining their independance and the fact that their happily single by strutting the right hand ring." I had never even thought it about it. I saw the ring in 2006 around Christmas time and decided to buy it for myself as a Christmas present to myself. Didnt want anyone to think I was engaged and that's why I wear it on my right hand. It really wasnt that deep. But I did some research and their are many articles on the net dating back to 2003 that says that what she said is true. Last year, 4.5 million women bought right hand diamond rings.

Do any of my fellow RBW's have right-hand ring finger ring, and if so, when you bought it was it because of a sign of independance and loving the fact that your single... or were you clueless to this whole thing like me and just bought it just because. Maybe the whole act is subconscious and even though I didnt consciously buy it as an act of independance, the back of my mind was saying I'm buying it because I can so HA!!! Here's a pic of my right hand ring.
Yes its a heart... I love heart diamonds... so for anyone that is interested in getting me something for my birthday on May 15th. (hint hint) You have a couple months to save up. Don't want my engagement ring to be a heart though, that's just tacky... I'm thinking the emerald cut for that...

girl!! I wrote about getting a right hand ring about 2 months ago! i have yet to get it but I want it just to show i don't need a man to buy me diamonds (although diamonds are much prettier when their free!!)

i was thinking emerald cut too! only cause of the name though; there aren't enough facets on that particular style for me...

I also have a right hand ring. I bought it because I liked it, wanted it, and could buy it. Like you, nothing that deep. Love your ring! Too cute. :-)

You're going to make someone cut your finger off, and take your ring.

I definitely want a right hand ring. Not so much for independence, just to say that these are my first REAL diamonds and I copped them myself! I'd feel real grown-up!

LOL! I have a right hand ring too. Just like you, I wear it on my right hand so people don't get the wrong idea but if I don't feel like being bothered with a guy I have switched hands just so they can leave me alone! I didn't buy mine. It was a ring that my dad gave my mom before he died and I thought it was really pretty. I use it as a reminder of their love for each other. I plan on buying my grown, sexy and independent ring sometime this year.

So If I rock a platinum band on my right hand does that define my independence?

I've been rocking a diamond on my right hand since the age of 19. No reason...just a fan of the mighty D. I guess that can be taken many ways;-)

I have one but I didn't buy it for myself. My dad bought it for me some years ago for valentine's day Something i hold dear to me and wear on my right hand ring finger. It's a three-ring setting with a marquise-cut ruby in the center and has a diamond on each side of the ruby. I didn't know anything about the single-woman's ring...interesting
