Are you really as good as you seem?

The above are images that represent 8 of my favorite blog men. I tried to be creative and add pics instead of the usual link to their blog (mad at soumy for not having a REAL pic for me to jack, and James Tubman doesn't have anything so I had to improvise); the blog world is small anyway so we all know who they are. They have spit a lot of knowledge on their blogs and my day truly wouldn't be complete if I didn't stop by everyday to see if they've written something new. A lot of what these men talk about is relationships. If not on their own blogs they comment on mine and other RBW's with their 2 sense when we write about them.
They always "seem" to have all the answers. Saying they would never lie in that situation, or that they always keep it real, or the way that they whine and dine their lovers, or the fact that they can lay the pipe and are truly uncomfortable unless they have on a magnum XL condom because any other size would be far too tight on their man-part.

They know what to say to get our blog personalities racing. They know what to write to ensure a certain type of comment. Let's face it fellow ladies... We are like putty in their hands, or should I say blogs. We are at work and every free moment we get we are checking for them to see if they have a new post, or if they commented on a post of ours, wanting their insight on everything that is life.
So I ask again, are they really as good as they seem? Would they be that charming if we went out on a date. Are they really as good in bed as their sexual experiences are professed. If we ask the girl on the other end of that stick, would she maybe say "he should have rocked the Lifestyles snugger fit because that XL was slipping off."

In the blog world these men seem perfect. Actually, one of them has even professed to be:
"I was the perfect man...Sheeeeetttt, I was even cooking and helping clean that person's crib."

They have us wishing we had a man that wanted to experience us in this way:
"I felt I would experience a woman in the following way: Meet an attractive woman. Be charming. Treat her like a lady. Take her out. Show her a great time. Exchange pleasant and romantic conversation. Carefully listen to her when she spoke ... and every now and then, do something special for her like shower her with flowers, cards, poems, roses, perfume, and of course, pay a bill for her or something. Yeah, I cannot lie, I have paid a bill here and there."

These men are smart, cultured, suave, debonairre, love the music that we do, write eloquently, and some of them have opened up to us in a way that they would never open up to their significant others. So why again are you single? Why hasn't some special RBW snatched you up yet? I know your going to answer that you had one and let her get away because you weren't as deep as you are now, and now only freaks of nature approach you right???

Nah, I beg to differ. I challenge my blog brothers to come out and tell us their faults, tell us your insecurities and things that scare you about life. We are tired of the buttercup posts that put you on a pedestal far beyond any men we have met in real life. I want to know your flaws and all. Tell us when you've done a chick dirty on a date, or if you let a chick go down on you knowing damn well you aint shower that day. We promise we'll still love you! Maybe its something as simple as you snore ridiculously and uncontrollably loud. Or maybe you lost ya damn mind for a second in your life and brought yourself to raise a hand at a female.

Now I am not at all trying to belittle you. I know you guys are wonderful in all your dimensions. I have a complex with a couple of your heights but for the most part your not bad looking men either (Cant speak for Soumy and James -ugh!) But it would be nice to get some comments and posts that are not what you think we women want to hear. Because you know women make the world go round and your not blogging for yourself, your blogging for us.

Remember that line in Love Jones when Nina said to Darius "You have all the answers don't you?" And he replies all suave, "Nah, just all the questions!" These men embody that same swagger that Darius had when he said this.

So blog men, are you really as good as you seem?

Rashan Jamal January 11, 2008 at 5:08 AM

Have you read my blog? I'm all about telling my faults. I'm a sarcastic, unfeeling, cant get a date, aint had sex in months, short, self centered anti social insomniac.

I do feel you on the brother's saying what ladies want to hear. I don't think I do that, but then again, I could be wrong.

Damn you for calling us out! LOL

Rashan Jamal January 11, 2008 at 7:12 AM

I'm back again.. so check it. I had some more to say, so I wrote a post about it on my blog. Check it out!

Eb the Celeb January 11, 2008 at 7:41 AM

@Ms.Behaving - Hopefully we will get some that act right because as you can see Don aint ish. Proves my point exactly that they only say what they think we want to hear, just like men in real life. I hope Don comes back and gives a real comment because I expected so much more from him. I'm highly disappointed right now in his response.

@Rashan - I wasnt really directly talking about you. Your just one of my regulars that I read and didnt want to leave you out. But you are straight cold, dont respond to text messages, crushing on the chick and work, etc, etc... so thank you for being real. But you know its other men on here that say only what we want to hear... YOU KNOW IT... and you probably have as well in between all your usual banter....LOL anyway... I'm about to go to your spot and check out that post

clnmike January 11, 2008 at 7:42 AM

Lol, that sounds like a challenge.

I freely admit i am no Angel.

I purposely choose bad women to date because they are easier to walk away from.

I came out of a two year relationship were i thought i did everything right and it still went to hell, so I am now a Bachelor for life. Like I am in a Gang.

I do drive bys at weddings sticking my head out the window throwing up B signs and screaming "Bachelor Life Nigga What!!"

I am a bit of a chauvanist, bit womanizer.

Tell you more later.

Jameil January 11, 2008 at 9:16 AM

I think that's a bit like people asking fabulous women "why are you single?" that question is so wack to me coming from a dude. "because no one on their game has come correct in my direction... *looks him up and down* and it seems the tide has not turned." next!

The Jaded NYer January 11, 2008 at 9:41 AM

LMAO @ clnmike!!! That drive-by visual will stay with me all day!

And DAYUM- I did not know thay made a "sugger fit" condom... and I'd HATE to encounter the dude who needed it...

Jazzy January 11, 2008 at 9:55 AM

I don't know everyone from the pictures, but Soumy and Rashan are two of my faves - I would be JUST crushed to find out they aren't as "perfect" as they are on their blogs!!!

LOL - Kidding of course!

Honestly, I don't get an I'm so perfect vibe from any of the guys I know on your list. Even though Soumy CLAIMS he is (yes I'm talking behind your back Soumy!), I think he's just making fun of the fact that he's really not. And Rashan seems to enjoy his ability to antagonize people...not exactly a way to appear as perfect.

James Tubman January 11, 2008 at 10:22 AM

the reason i don't have a full time woman is because i want to work on me right now

i just got out of a long term relationship were i made a lot of mistakes

even though i had the knowledge i didn't use it

so i figure if i teach it to others maybe i'll be more inclined to follow it myself

RAGING BULL January 11, 2008 at 10:41 AM

Dizzzamn. That Tubman dude is smooth as hell.

"I'm working on me right now..."

Lol...the BULLY will never be that smooth.

When are you going to post one about the blogger men that revel in their grimeyness and trust issues?

I gotta make that list.

Sha Boogie January 11, 2008 at 10:51 AM

Go gurl! You hit it right on the head. Online, people can make it seem like that have NO flaws, when heck we know that is the furthest thing from the actual truth, ok? I am interested in seeing what some brothers got to say..

Eb the Celeb January 11, 2008 at 11:09 AM

Thanks Mike and James for being so real and honest... and @ the bully... James was real smooth with that wasnt he...LOL

@James - I can really dig and respect your response though...still mad I had to make my own pic of you though...LOL

Skoolboi Krush January 11, 2008 at 11:14 AM

Wow! You are really calling folks out on this one. Well, I have been married and divorced so I know for a fact that I got issues. I'm a typical Gemini. Very moody and can be a little standoffish about it. I can be all up on you one day and then not call for three days. These things I know about myself and am actively working on.

La January 11, 2008 at 11:39 AM

oooh I am SO looking forward to the answers. Great post!

Dave Van Buren January 11, 2008 at 11:43 AM

Damn why you put that pic of me up??

I'm single because I'm a male chauvinist and I don't really apply myself to relationships. Plus I usually try and get to know people before I make any kind of move. When you get to know a woman you realize more often than not that are crazy...lol. AND I have my daughter who comes before any random chick, so I don't really have the time to put into a relationship. Othen than that I'm as good as advertised... shyt I have references. lmao

Eb the Celeb January 11, 2008 at 12:50 PM

@Skoolboi--- Ugh at Gemini's... ya'll are crazy for real with a million personalities

@homer - I like that pic...LOL; thats real... I can respect your daughter being that #1 girl in your life right now...

B January 11, 2008 at 2:17 PM

I know EB!!! You are seriously crackin' me up!

magnoliapeach January 11, 2008 at 3:00 PM

LMAO, Great Post girl!!!

I got my popcorn for the rest of the responses!!

clnmike January 11, 2008 at 3:10 PM

"I'm working on me right now..."

Yeah that was pretty pimp right there, lol.

And another thing I cant stand to much talking, you ever came across some one who wanted to talk about everything?

Women do that, that ish irks the hell out of me.

it started with my mother she would lecture me to death, it's like Damn can you beat my ass and get it over with?

Till this day I cant talk on the phone for more than 5 min, is there a point to this? Say what you got to say and get off my phone. Soon as the conversation hit 5 min it's like the cartoon Peanuts all I hear is Wawawawa.

I cant how many relationships I killed because of that.

James Tubman January 11, 2008 at 3:37 PM

yall like that don't yall

playa, playa

The Fitness Diva January 11, 2008 at 3:39 PM

lmao at the "he should have rocked the Lifestyles snugger fit...."
Great post.

Eb the Celeb January 11, 2008 at 4:01 PM

@ Skinny & Divine, I know... I dont know what is wrong with me this week... Sometimes I just feel like getting in a man's face... and since I dont have no man... I'm using my blog brothas to vent on... LOL

@mike - damn ... your cold like that... I mean I talk a lot but I always let the man get like 1 or maybe 2 words in within that 5 min...LOL

@ james... you gonna have dudes using that line now...

dialogue
lady- why wont you commit boo
man - cuz i'm working on me right now babygirl

you typed it so elegantly i know you used that crap before, big pimpin

Mr.Slish January 11, 2008 at 4:22 PM

I dunno Eb I think most of the male blogs I've read have always written about their faults..

Don is very open about his short comings. I believe that's why so many women are drawn to his blog.

Rashan who was once known as T-cas had to change his blog name because of his openness.

Believe me when I tell you men with no issues do not waste their time blogging. Explains why they are so few of us in blogland.

Most black men don't like to share their feelings much less write about it. The ones that do I applaud them cause this shit ain't easy...

Maybe it seems like we're holding back or trying to paint a picture perfect version of ourselves..When the reality is were just afraid our female counterparts will interpret how we really feel about a situation as crass or uncaring. So we may not cut loose the way we would like to, but since you've put it there that you want THE REAL!!! Fella's I say we give it to her RAW!!!!

Loved this post ..: )

Anonymous January 11, 2008 at 6:44 PM

"or if you let a chick go down on you knowing damn well you aint shower that day."

LOL...straight comedy!

Anonymous January 11, 2008 at 7:24 PM

LMAO! Very interesting post here ..even more interesting are the responses.

Eb the Celeb January 11, 2008 at 8:05 PM

Give it to me raw slish... give it to me RAW!!!! LOL

@jewells - you know i had the lighten it up a little so they wouldnt think i was straight trying to attack them

Ticia January 12, 2008 at 10:28 AM

OKAY EB.. you are on a roll this week!

Great post! I love the answers... I can respect the realness!!!

Have a great weekend :)

Anonymous January 12, 2008 at 10:43 AM

clnmike said: I purposely choose bad women to date because they are easier to walk away from.

Eh yeah, I got to blog on that one. Hope he doesn't mind.

Don January 12, 2008 at 12:23 PM

Hopefully we will get some that act right because as you can see Don aint ish. Proves my point exactly that they only say what they think we want to hear, just like men in real life. I hope Don comes back and gives a real comment because I expected so much more from him. I'm highly disappointed right now in his response.

A bully aint ish. lol.

How I can tell a woman what I think she wants to hear when I don't know what it is that a woman wants to hear?

Whether right or wrong ... I speak from my heart, babygirl.

Don January 12, 2008 at 12:25 PM

@ slish: Thank you, bruh. ebonne is my little blog sister but she is definitely reaching with this.

mp1 January 12, 2008 at 2:16 PM

Im wit Don. I know I aint ish! And I'm not included above, but I'll still share.

I'm going through a divorce right now, so like Skoolboi, I know that I've got some issues.

I have problems expressing myself. I'll write everyday and express something, but doing it orally?? That just aint me. My ability to express myself with my mouth definitly leaves something desired.

I don't like people telling me what to do. I know that a relationship is about compromise, but I really don't want to do it. I have problems working my life around the wants, needs and desires of others.

i can be really standoffish. I only answer my phone for a select few. At times I can dismiss and completely ignore the feelings of others. i'll feel bad about it later, but I don't think that makes the offended feel any better.

And it's more faults where those came from.

Eb the Celeb January 12, 2008 at 2:39 PM

GET EM JEWELLS

@Don- can you please stop calling me a bully... otherwise I'm gon have to knock yo azz out...lol and stop acting like you think you don know what a woman wants to hear...now who playing!

@MP - thx for being so real!

A Beautifulstruggle January 12, 2008 at 9:30 PM

OMG!! I'm screaming at this one Eb. You read my f-ing mind. As I read (their) blogs I scratch my head and wonder where the hell are all these GREAT f-ing men living at, in a whole perhaps? Maybe, like Nina a Darius they too need to fuck up and loose the best thing for a while and then right their wrongs after kicking themselves for a year or two. And this period is their year or two that they are coming to know and understand life and love in full depth.

~A~

Eb the Celeb January 13, 2008 at 12:51 AM

@andrea - I know girl, I'm glad you can relate... thats all I was trying to say... but a couple of the guys got kind of sensitive about me calling them out. It was really about not being able to find men like the way they seem on the daily. Its crazy how the man who can be a terror to one woman can grow to be the love of the life of another...

BK January 13, 2008 at 5:45 AM

I'm late to the party but this was a great post..

LMAO @ some of the comments and errr ease up on Gemini's we are not crazy with multiple personalities..

this reminds me of a post Ms. Lee did on NICE dudes.. LOL you know the ones that make it a POINT to tell you they are NICE lmao

Mo January 14, 2008 at 2:26 AM

i'm diggin urs tooo
very entertaining

Muze January 14, 2008 at 5:00 PM

okay i've been meaning to comment on this for the longest. lol.

the funny thing is, i've never gotten the 'mr. perfect' vibe from any of these men, at least the ones whose pics i recognize. just means they write about it more than other guys. and maybe they do leave out the gory details, but i think overall they're pretty honest.

and i hate to admit this, but mp1 just described me TOTALLY. oh no i'm a guy! lol.

Afrodite January 14, 2008 at 5:55 PM

This is one of the first posts where I actually scrolled through the comments before posting.

Great post by the way although I think you're getting more responses from women.

*Gives a sideye to the male bloggers*

Sherlon Christie January 15, 2008 at 11:41 AM

Yes. I am as good as I seem. It takes a good woman to recognize that aspect of my personality.
