So I have been blessed to be able to do things for my mom that otherwise she would not be able to do. My mom had me when she was 17 years old. Before she got pregnant she was awarded track and field scholarships to many Division I universities and I hendered that dream for her. Well actually it wasnt my fault, she was the one who got pregnant, but she wasnt able to make her dreams come true. She went on to have 4 more children, so she never had the chance to do things in life that she always wanted to. She had never even been outside of the United States, not including Canada since we're from Rochester, NY which is only 45min from Niagara Falls.
So in 2006 I decided to take my mom to Turks & Caicos islands. Her first time out of the country. It was so funny having to take my mom threw the process of getting a passport. Anyway, we had an amazing time, and seeing her smile made me realize I wanted to do something like that for her every year.
Being in the business that I am in I made appoint to make 1 trip be a football weekend. So in the 2006-07 season she came to NY for the JETS/BEARS game.
This past season we went to Chicago for the DALLAS/BEARS game. If you havent figured it out yet... my mom is a BEARS fan.
Instead of a big trip though, last year we did 2 small trips instead of one big one. In April her and her husband went to Florida so I flew down so we could go to Disney world since my company pass gets us in for free. Then I flew her to NY for her birthday in November.
So I'm thinking we have to do something big this year like we did in 2006, but I have no idea where we should go. Next year we have a big trip to Japan planned, so dont suggest that but I need some suggestions from my blog fam as to where we should go this year. My mom wants to go to Vegas... so I was thinking about taking her Mother's Day weekend, but I've been there, done that. Even though its for her, I'd rather go somewhere I havent been before. So I have already been to Jamaica, Bahamas, Puerto Rico, Key West, St. Thomas, St. Marteen. What are some other nice, relaxing, get-away vacations spots that are under the radar???

Hmmmmm depends on what you're looking for...if you're looking for fun in the sun, then go to Aruba. Some of the best beaches and spas, I've been to.
If you don't mind the cold London is great. Lots and lots to do there and you can even take the train on over to Paris for a day trip.
I wouldn't want to go to the Bahamas, Jamaica or Key West again either. They're nice, but...I don't know...I was not impressed.
Now Puerto Rico is worth visiting again!
i've never been outside of the country and it might be too expensive but i would want to go to Egypt (Kemet) or the Goree Islands in Senegal (where slaves were taken from, door of no return)
i've talked to people whose been to both places and they say that their experience there was life changing
I was going to suggest Aruba, too. There's also Morocco - haven't been there, but I've been studying up on it as a future trip, or Tanzania (go on safari). I'm also a fan of Paris or Brussels because you can take easy day trips to other places like London, Amsterdam, and parts of Germany.
Hmmmm you could come visit me, and then you could to the underground railroad tour, Canada is a big country too you know *smile*
@OD & Nicole - I was thinking Aruba. They have a soul beach music festival in may that I was considering. Its pretty cheap too.
@James - I dont think I want to do the motherland trip just yet. That is a passion of mine though.
@Work - being from Rochester. We have been to canada plenty of times, from Niagara Falls to Toronto...
Thanks all for your suggestions!
try a spa weekend getaway in Mexico.. Los Cabos or Cozumel.. Cancun too commercial..
Yo!!
Your momma looks Hot!!
lol.
You are so sweet...i do the same with my mom and sister every year. I heard Aruba was lovely, but i also enjoyed St. Thomas, very nice there too, well at least on the resort. Too sweet lady!
@Bk - Cozumel sounds real good!
@Mike - your suppose to be giving me trip suggestions, no salivating over my mom... but thanks... begin in my 40's look a lot brighter when there's a chance that I'll look like that right. Question... Do men still do that, look at a girl's mom to determine whether or not he will marry her when everything else is in place?
Ohhh, I went to Turks & Caicos last year and loved it. I hope that one day I can afford to do things for my Mom. I got 'bout 5 mo years 'til I can do that.
Hawaii is just beauttttiful. Take her there!
You're awesome for the things you do for your mother. All of those places sounds great. (i'm no help, lol)
My clients seem to love Aruba and the Grand Cayman
@divine - I'm going to hawaii without mom next month...LOL
@confession- Thx! I'm trying to make up for all the years I drove my mom up the wall...LOL
@Seven - I have done grand cayman too... when we went to turks we took a boat over... its gorgeous...
It seems like the overall consensus is Aruba... thanks for the help everybody!
I've never been out the country but I heard Spain is nice. My co-worker went last year and the pics looked nice.. lol
Yes men still look at a woman's mother to see were the future is going.
Hi Eb,I've been a lurker on your site for a few weeks now. I'm from upstate in NY also(Buffalo) and live in NYC. Anyway, I've been to Aruba and it's by far my favorite island you will have a great time! Another place is Sedona, AZ the spas there are some of the best and they are so relaxing! I'm going to Cabo San Lucas on Friday and heard that was a great place to go to...I'll see!
Oh yeah I forgot.
I heard that Dakar, Sengal is very nice from my African friends, I think they call it Little Paris.
i def. hear aruba is BANGIN.
aruba. the most re-visited country in the world. it must be gangsta since people ALWAYS return :-) that is so awesome what you do for your mom!
That's so sweet! I'd love to take my mom somewher nice. Maybe once I'm done with school...
Aye, try Cozumel. That place was freakin' awesome!!! I went as a graduation present to myself in the middle of December in 2003 and it was great!!! I have been trying to get back every since.
I have also been to Montego Bay, Jamaica and it was cool but I'm not in a rush to go back. I didn't really like the Caymans to hot but it was a beautiful place if you are just going to chill out on the beach.
Costa Maya, Mexico was nice too. You could always do cruise and hit several places on one trip. Think about it. ;-)
