Build A Man Workshop

The first day of December... everyone is making their Christmas list, contemplating whether or not they were naughty or nice this year. I personally don't want anything for Christmas. I honestly cant think of one material thing that I really want. I mean if I can't have Idris Elba wrapped under the tree and waiting for me on Christmas morning then what's the point. Which got me to thinking, what if it was that easy, that you could ask Santa for the characteristics you want in a man and if you were good all year Christmas morning he would be sitting there waiting for you.

I'm sure you've heard of Build A Bear. If you've never been to the workshop, please go... by yourself its just as fun as if you take a kid. You get to pick out your bear, stuff it, clothe it, get all these accessories. No one will ever have a bear exactly like yours. I wish they had it when I was a kid. So what if they had a workshop where you could go threw and build a man. Here is what mine would consist of.
Tall - at least 6'2
Smooth chocolate skin
Honest
Communicator
Ambitious
Strong
Lover and a Fighter
Loves football
Smooth operator in the bedroom
Athletic
Non-smoker
God fearing
A man of his word
Football booty that you can bounce a quarter off
Smart
Family oriented
Degree'd up
Entrepreneurial
Romantic
Loves to travel
Outgoing
Loves to take pictures
Preferably no kids but I know the chances of that nowadays are slim so hopefully no more than 1 kid
Adventurous
Great Smile
Addictive Personality

OK... I'll stop there... because in essence I could go on forever with a list like this. It could all be so simple right... too bad it doesn't work like this. I threw my list away the end of last year. 2008 has brought dudes I would never give the time of day before. And although none of them went anywhere... I had fun. We know we all have a list of things we want in our potential mate...I even did a perfect man box post around this time last year. We all know that certain things shouldn't be compromised as far as your preferences but you definitely don't want to miss out on a good thing because they don't fit every sector of your list to a T. I know some chicks that live by "a list," ... guys too, and that there is a very thin line between having a list and having preferences, and there's also a thin line between being lenient with your preferences and settling. I pray that when the opportunities present themselves that I know when to be lenient and when to stick to my preferences...and that my spirit never gets to the point where I feel like I'm settling for anything, whether it be a relationship or job or in any other aspect of my life.

child, I'm so thru worrying about men that if I saw that Build-a-man workshop on 5th Ave I'd keep it moving.

Yup, it's like that. lol

Hmmm dont think so...funny how you wrote about Build-a-Bear coz I took my god-daughter there this weekend, and i think i enjoyed it more than she did..lol..
I totally agree with you in that one might have a 'list' but its what can you compromise and whats non-negotiable on your preferences

Princess Key December 1, 2008 at 7:27 AM

"Football Booty"
I have always thought I was alone on this preference. But any who, I think I found what I been looking for as long as I don't screw it up first.
If only it was that easy to build one.

Dave Van Buren December 1, 2008 at 7:51 AM

lol... that perfect man box post was my introduction to Eb's world.

Trelly December 1, 2008 at 8:15 AM

Don't you know those men are limited editions chica?...LMAO

Purple Lilly December 1, 2008 at 8:40 AM

I agree... but those are men only God and build and give.

doll (retired blogger) December 1, 2008 at 9:05 AM

Am with u on the tall thing o! I have a thing for men of basket ball height, then strong, doesn’t talk too much, God fearing and intelligent. Then am good to go

Jada December 1, 2008 at 9:26 AM

If only it were that easy. But I must say...I have met some very interesting men outside of my usual preferences. As a result I've thrown the infamous list out or at least filed it away in the very back of my mind.

It's amazing the people you discover when you step outside of your box.

Creative1k December 1, 2008 at 9:56 AM

Girl, I was just thinking about this on my ride into work. Man, if only this place was established, there would be stampedes every time the doors opened. I feel ya on the preferences and settling bid. You never want to get so wrapped that you byline your preferences for tha sake of having a dude.

WiZ December 1, 2008 at 10:02 AM

here's an idea....why not ask VH1 to do a reality dating show with you. You can call it...I Love Eb.

Eb the Celeb December 1, 2008 at 11:03 AM

@jaded nyer - plz say it aint so... you sound like your about to turn into a lesbian...lol

@princess - congrats to you on finding it

@mahogany - girl of course I know

@purple lilly - I know... and God needs to build a whole lot more of them

@jada - I feel ya... it has been a fun year without the list

@Wiz - HELL TO THE NAWL!

WiZ December 1, 2008 at 11:07 AM

Anonymous December 1, 2008 at 11:12 AM

oh how i wish there were a build a man shop i could just walk into and walk out with my dream dude...until then the search continues....

btw i totally agree with you about throwing out lists and going with the flow...though i do have my preferences it's okay to deviate now and then for new experiences - you neve know, you might like it.

The Jaded NYer December 1, 2008 at 11:13 AM

HA! Girl, it's worse... I'm about to reconsider the nunnery...

Sha Boogie December 1, 2008 at 11:40 AM

I took my nephew there and they had so many choices my little dude got confused. Can you imagine an option like that for woman? Would we add to much? Leave something important off?

Anonymous December 1, 2008 at 11:51 AM

I'm with Jaded on this one...I wouldn't even want to be bothered

Anonymous December 1, 2008 at 12:05 PM

If only it was that easy.

MzInspiredMind81 December 1, 2008 at 12:15 PM

I'm trying to work thru that very thing myself...learning what on my 'list' is negotiable vs. non negotiable.

Britt December 1, 2008 at 12:26 PM

My friends and I had the same discussion about "Build a Man" in the mall one day! Hell, we need to partner up and make it happen lol!

dessex December 1, 2008 at 12:42 PM

Minus the part about being 6'2 (I'm 6'0)...this list sounds like me. lol.

Oh and yeah and I don't know what a football butt is. But as a man I don't know if I want to know lol

Nicole December 1, 2008 at 12:44 PM

Make A Man Worship is just about to go on my blog, Eb!

Melody.Darlene December 1, 2008 at 12:52 PM

omg eb!! that was GENIOUS!! build-a-man! lma0! damn dont u wish it were that easy?! stepford husbands! lol

PhlyyGirl December 1, 2008 at 1:46 PM

PUH-LEASE!!
I wouldn't build a man cause trust and believe that at the end of the day, one way or another, I'd still have to pay for his ass and I don't want that either.
I'd watch the reality show though!!!

Beautifully.Conjured.Up December 1, 2008 at 1:46 PM

I acutally have a list too, and I'm always checking it to make sure I stay true to what I really want.

I hope you find him :)

Rich Fitzgerald December 1, 2008 at 2:08 PM

If we would have met when I was 15 years younger, I'd be your dude. Sorry, Chelle (the wife) beat you out.

Keith December 1, 2008 at 2:53 PM

Damn EB- I fit all of those qualities, but hmmmm I'm too old for you (My daughter is 27) and I'm already married....damn..if only, huh-lolololol.

Original Designer Woman December 1, 2008 at 3:14 PM

Seriously?

I am too business driven to focus on that. Like it seems most of my girls are worrying about marriage and dates and I am sitting back like "There is too much $ out there and people to enlighten to be worrying about men!"

But for fun let me add that the right build for me lol
would be any man motivated and determined just as much as me and wants more out of life than the mediocre life normal people live!

I DON'T CARE HOW HE LOOKS! lol

Zanade

Eb the Celeb December 1, 2008 at 4:06 PM

@Wiz - you forgot to mention that your a young'n... college aged dudes aint ready for Eb...lol

@Jaded Nyer - Ha... say it aint so!

@Sha Boogie - They would have to kick me out of the store at closing time because if it was that easy I would stay in there all day to make sure I didn't forget anything

@Keith- LOL @ your daughter being the same age as me... that means you would be like a sugar daddy...lol

@Dessex - You know what a football booty is... one that looks good in them tights

@melody - yes girl...stepford husbands...lol

@Phlyygirl - Damn I didn't even think about the price... but best believe if you had the money to pay for the perfect man... you know you would... and there is NO reality show and I dont want one

@Rich- You'd have to move to the big city though... I cant do Missouri...lol

@Zanade - I was the same way a couple years ago... trust... you are at the prime of your life right now... you feel yourself on the corporate ladder climbing... it wasnt until my sisters had sons last year that I started thinking about life as a whole and not just my career. Best believe before then I never even thought about men, it was all about my career and occasional dick.

Kryssy December 1, 2008 at 5:49 PM

Ummm... please add "Straight- with no Homo thug or DL tendencies" to that list.

clnmike December 1, 2008 at 7:15 PM

Eb the Celeb December 2, 2008 at 8:49 AM

@Ms Lovely - That aint even one of my requirements anymore... I've learned that most men that are ridiculously big feel since they have the tool they aint gotta do ish else... the Ego... I'll take one that has one a little bigger than average and can eat the hell out of some punani over the one that is just big for no reason..lol

@kryssy - yes girl... see that's what they were talking about when missing something... I would have completely forgot about that and came out of the workshop with a perfect man that was gay..lol

@-1- yeah you reminded me of others that I would have if I had kept going

@Kin'Shar - I dont know why complexion is important to me, but I just cant do a light skinned man. They do nothing for me. Plus I want some chocolate babies...lol

T.a.c.D December 2, 2008 at 11:49 AM

you are truly CLASSIC! but seriously NEVER settle no matter what NEVER do it...i did it and it didn't end nicely so stick to what you want and know that end the end it maybe even better than the IBM list

The F_Uitlist December 2, 2008 at 4:11 PM

HEHE this was funny. Build a bear is my favorite.

@Jaded Yeah I don't buy it not one bit. The nunnery would not have you with your two girls hahaha

Torie Michelle December 3, 2008 at 1:01 AM

LOL. I had this idea in high-school. Nobody's created a "Build-a-Man" and I'm not into science--chemistry, biology, and all the jazz that would make something like this possible, sooooo...I haven't created it either.

I like your ingredients. I can substitute "smooth chocolate skin" with "smooth, clear skin, tone doesn't matter." lol

"Loves football" would become "Loves basketball."

And I'd like him to be a dancer. That's always good. :-)

Elise December 12, 2008 at 12:56 PM

Where's my damn list...where is my damn list!? I guess that's why I keep ending up with all this rift-raft..cause I keep losing that damn list! Let me get back to ya Eb on this workshop...~E
