Music to my ears...

I honestly don't know what I would do if I didn't have music in my life. It has always been there. Me listening to the radio for hours on end, I remember getting a whooping for breaking the needle on the record player at my grandparents house trying to do it myself, because they didn't get there fast enough for me to hear my Michael Jackson record. Having the best birthday parties growing up because my uncle was a deejay. Being in the dance troop in high school, getting my first car and the first thing I did was buy a CD player and some speakers to put in it. Then getting the chance to do radio for a couple years and understand and fall in love with the business aspect of music. Which led me to go on to want to pursue higher education and I got my Masters in Music Business. That entire program depressed me so much that I started a music blog. It showed me that the future of music wasn't so bright in the traditional sense, and thus the reason I now work in Sports. But music is still a big part of my life. I still buy CD's and have a ridiculous collection. Here is a little glimpse.
Anyway, I don't want this to be a book. I put a little piece together with 50 of my favorite songs. I have the songs highlighted and you have to comment and tell me who the artist is. And don't cheat and go google'ing stuff...lol.. Some are easy and commercial hits, and some may be from artists you never heard of, or some hidden album tracks that were my favorite joints from some of the biggest acts. Hint... I love R&B.

This little ditty is Untitled, I'm just going to Let it flow. Music has the power to Make it Alright. Sometimes you just have to Free Yourself from the things that Life can throw your way and listen to the Message in the Music. I'm like the Visions of a Sunset, experiencing both Joy & Pain. My first chapter I was tough, you better Act like you know. Second chapter there is Love and had me asking Who is she to you? I gave him All that I am and he cheated. Now I just want it to be over, but then he said I don't mean it and I love you. Why couldn't he just tell me he couldn't be a One woman man, and Why does it hurt so bad? Damn him and that Sideline Ho. I should've cheated, or at least admitted to myself that I was In love with another man. I learned that Love Changes. When I think back I think I Lost one. He was a Good Man, but I just wasn't Ready for Love. I don't know What happened, but I want to get Backtight with him because I'm still in Love with my Ex. Sometimes I Reminisce, if For the night he could be My boo. But Love is so complicated so maybe its destined for Next Lifetime. Where do we go from here? Back to The Jump off. He was my Wednesday Lover. That was the day he would call me and say "I'm coming to Break you off", even though I wanted him Seven Whole Days because there was something in his Backstroke. I remember the first Meeting in my bedroom with my T-shirt & Panties on. He told me all I had to do was Say it, and I would Say yes, and in return he would Say my name. Every Escapade after he made it feel like the First time. The 3rd chapter is the journey to find Tru Love. A chapter that is steadily becoming to be A long walk. All in all I'll be Just Fine, and with that... this Woman's Work is done because Aint nothin' like a Jones.

I did some spring cleaning this weekend and have a whole bunch of music I need to get rid of.
I HAVE A MUSIC PRIZE PACK FULL OF CD'S THAT I HAVE DUPLICATES OF, OLD AND NEW STUFF TO SEND TO THE PERSON WHO GETS THE MOST CORRECT... AND NO CHEATING!

***Note that there may be more than one song with that title... so in order to win you have to name the same artist that I was thinking of in relation to that song title. Good luck!!!

Your list is a testament to the longevity of music. The history of music is so rich and people duplicate songs that were made years ago. If they don't keep the same words, they keep the music behind the words. I feel how you wrote this up, very creative. Im digging it. I believe lauren and southern girl are the closest. If you would have said it was "never as good" as the first time then I would have through my girl Sade in there but you dont know about that =>

Hmm I would be lying if I said I didnt look at some of the above comments to get some of the answers so I'll just wait to see who the lucky winner is:-)

I like how you made that paragraph flow with song titles. Very creative:-)

dessex April 8, 2008 at 5:04 PM

If I would have saw this first I would have killed. I love the blog, and I thought I had a lot of CDs you might be killing me.

dessex April 8, 2008 at 5:07 PM

by looking at some of these comments I noticed that many people skipped Tru Love. And I am guess that was by Faith Evans.

Am I Right?

Suite B April 8, 2008 at 5:19 PM

I won't even try to play this game because I don't know names of music at all...matter of fact I really only listen to about 12 CD's.

Anyway, we are moving and trying to get rid of CD's and music so look out in the mail because whoever wins this one I'm going to ship all of Boogie's old CD's to as well...he doesn't know it yet.

Eb the Celeb April 8, 2008 at 5:31 PM

@suite b - you better not give away boogie's CD's... he prolly still has joints back from the 102 jamz days just like I do... those are solid memories right there... you cant just be giving them away...lol

Eb the Celeb April 8, 2008 at 5:33 PM

@rungirl - No winner yet... i will reveal the winner tomorrow morning

@ E - only if you dance with me...lol
