What is my future husband doing right now?

This whole post was brought on by RealHustla. In one of her posts she had a line that went something like:

I wonder what my man is doing right now and why he's taking so long to find me.

(I switched it up a little from what she originally wrote.)

This stuck out with me because do we ever sit back and think about that as single men and women. We are so hung up in finding him or her but never really sit back and wonder who that person is before we meet them. I put together a little poem based on the things that I wonder from time to time.

My future husband...I wonder

Not suppose to look for him.
It is said that he will find me.
But I cant help but sit back and wonder.
What he's doing at this very moment.
Is he reading a book or writing a poem?
Is he at work?
I wonder what he does for a living.
Does he have a blog?
Did he graduate from a HBCU?
I wonder how we will meet.
Have I already met him and just don't know that he's the one?
Is he even in NYC?

My future husband...I wonder

Is he in the gym working out?
So that I immediately fall in love with his physique.
Will he be as tall as I like them.
Or as chocolate as I've imagined.
Will he have those heart-shaped lips that make me melt
Will he have taco-meat chest hair that I will have to convince him to shave.
And a chest that is big enough that I can bury my head in.
How many tattoos does he have?
Does he embody unique style and swag.

My future husband...I wonder

If he wants to have daughters or sons or a combination.
What will we name our children.
Wait, I wonder what his name is.
Does it have 3 syllables like mine.
How will he propose.
What will my ring look like?
Will we write our own vows?
Will I like my new last name.
Will he cry at the wedding?
When will the first time be that I see him cry?
Will my mother like him?
Will his parents like me?

My future husband...I wonder

If he likes to travel.
And wants to make it his mission to show me the world.
Does he like to go out or is he a homebody?
Can he dance?
Is he athletic?
Will we share the same musical tastes?
Will he love taking pictures as much as I do?
What sweet things he will do for me when its not a holiday?

My future husband...I wonder

How long will it take for him to fall in love with me?
What about him will make me drop my guard and allow him in?
What will it be about me that he loves the most?
What about him will intrigue me most?
Will he bless me with this mental orgasm thing that everyone talks about that I have yet to experience?
Where will we be when we kiss for the first time?
What about him will have my panties wet every time he walks in the room.
What will our first intimate moment be like?

My future husband...I wonder, how much longer before he finds me.

I did this same exact thing when I was in middle school. Let's just say back then I was all about dreaming of my wedding and a perfect man. Now I'm just like...whatever...for now.
But I did write a poem and list things just like you.

This piece was very thought provoking. I think you might have had that "mental orgasm thing" with this one lol!

The mind is a beautiful tool to draw the mental picture of our future husband. However, we must be ready when he comes because is coming! We may not know when but as it is written, "Be ye ready at all times". And "He that findth a wife findth a good thing"!

That's the beauty of the mind we draw into lives the very things that we want and need.

if a dude was interested in being your future husband i wonder if he stumbled upon this if he'd alter some of his behavior to match what he thinks you want based on the poem. just a thought.

RealHustla March 31, 2008 at 12:14 PM

Eb, I'm so honored that my ramblings would inspire you so. And, like a little girl, I still think about all these things regularly. The wedding in my head is awesome, so is his physique, our house, the kids. But you know, I don't need all those other things, just him, taco meat chest hair, pot belly and all, LOL.
