The African American Day Parade

So I love living in Harlem for many reasons... but this is definitely one of them. Every year I watch the parade from my living room window. So this year I decided to take some pics and video so that if you weren't here you can get a glimse of the Harlem Experience.

First the floats...

Doug E. Fresh gave me a shout out... he stopped right in front of my window and was like biggups to my peoples watching from their windows... it made me smile... I love me some Dougie

Now on to the dancers

Peep this gay dude that had these little girls dancing all stank-a-dank

which got me thinking, why the heck are all these dance troops led by gay men? What happened to the women dance teachers. I was a flag twirler, baton thrower, and on the dance troop and all my teachers were women... but look how the times have changed

Anyway, here are some kids that can really dance

and this little chunky girl right here... she was the best one out there... and too cute

Then these 40 y.o. women trying to drop it and barely make it had me cracking up

this dancer was so bold... she had so much flab hanging out over everywhere and was standing strong in her bikini top... the pic does her a lot of justice They also had some dancers on skates... this was my first time seeing them

Now what are dancers without the band

Now you know you can't have a parade without seeing some crazy stuff

And this is for the F*&K It List, please tell your cousins to stop bringing their street work out to the parade...lol

We also had a little martial arts

and then these bad kids with bikes that are always whipping and weaving threw the entire parade... last year a couple of them got jacked up by police... this year they figured instead of terrorizing the parade, they would do a little show

Some Obama supporters

and I'll end with some other random photos

LMAO @ the gay dude dance instructors.
IDK where they came from. They really did come out of nowhere.
You got some nice pictures, Eb. So I guess we'll be adding photography to your repetoire. ;-)

I wish I KNEW where U were, Eb - cuz my girl, DKM & I got caught up in the f&%#ery & fray! Lawd, YOUR people! I had to rest my feet & nerves at Nectar afterwards - u know ANY excuse'll do;-).

CapCity September 22, 2008 at 10:53 PM

PS - in case u missed it & don't know what i'm referring to - i don't know what "broke out" but just as the sun was dropping folk just started runnin' & u know it was WAYYYY too many of us, too much heat, & too many folk under all kinds of influences! It was time for me to GO! I haven't seen anything in the news but did find another blog who reported:
HipHopRepublican. Though, not too sure how much we can believe a republican. lol. ...but there were helicopters & PO-PO ALL OVAH da place when we left the wine spot after 9pm, so I'm glad to see another day & not get caught up in someone else's IGNANCE!

Miz Cheekz September 22, 2008 at 11:41 PM

Why is the man with the flame up his ass teaching those kids to dance damn nasty...that was not even funny.

O.K. the old ladies I swear I love to see them in action in a parade. Here we have the May Day parade and those little old ladies come in from all over to march in the parade and every year they make me feel like I need to step up my game...LOL

Eb the Celeb September 23, 2008 at 7:00 AM

@CAP - No I had no idea... the parade is like 6 hours long.. I stopped watching around 4 so I could concentrate on football and didn't hear anything... so I guess it wasn't too close to my crib... next time hit me up... you know you can always crash the crib

B September 23, 2008 at 8:27 AM

Dang that looks like madd fun. One time for the martial arts! Yes, some of us Black folx do get into that!! And I'm dyin' at some of these dancers. Reminds me of my many years being in FAMU Homecoming parades. Great pictures!

R Kelly is still wack as ever

You and I need to switch bodies cause I can't seem to gain any weight and I've been trying...

Doctor September 24, 2008 at 2:50 PM

as a man I can address 2 things:

some of us can iron...but why iron...when you can throw it in the drier...and it'll take care of it for you

Piss stains...I don't know what to tell you...my daddy always said women care about your kitchen and bathroom...so keep it clean boy

CourtEney Michelle September 25, 2008 at 2:34 AM

The guy in the halloween pic with the big nose is suppose to be Humpty. He made a song called the "Humpty Dance?" The song is like "do me baby...do the humpty hump, do the humpty hump." lol. I know you've heard it. It's from late 80's early or 90's.

Eb the Celeb September 25, 2008 at 7:16 AM

@ Stew - it was long as hell... It starting at one and by 4 I was bored... I dont even know when it ended because I took a little nap so I could be fresh for my cowboys game sundy night

J. McFly September 25, 2008 at 10:47 AM

Eb the Celeb September 25, 2008 at 9:58 PM

DJ Black Adam September 29, 2008 at 6:10 PM

Wow, beats the hell out of our Bud Bilikin parade (simply by you all having a much better and in my opinion meaningful name of your parade in Harlem.)
