Thoughts to Ponder : True love never goes away

Right before the new year I spoke to my ex. The one I was in love with, the one that I thought was the one. The one I lived with for almost a year in college. It was weird at first, knowing that he's engaged. When I saw the number on my caller ID I couldn't believe it. Excited that he still thinks about me enough to call, happy knowing that all the craziness we went threw that we are still friends. After reminiscing and catching up for almost 2 hours I realized that I still love him and at times I even miss him. Made me realize that when you love someone, that feeling never goes away. No matter how long its been since you've spoken, no matter how love its been since you were together and how over the situation you are. No matter how much you know that you are not right for each other, LOVE NEVER GOES AWAY dammit.

True love never dies for it is lust that fades away. Love bonds for a lifetime but lust just pushes away.”
-Alicia Barnhart

Love won't be tampered with, love won't go away. Push it to one side and it creeps to the other.”
-Louise Erdrich

“Love is basically like leaches .... They suck until they can’t get enough of you. Until you find a catapillar that will turn into the butterfly that you have wished for all of your life. Then they just spread their wings and fly away.”
-Unknown

“Sometimes love walks away ... because staying would conflict with loving and being true to who we are.”
-Jan Denise

This whole situation made me realize that I want to be in love. I want to be loved. At this point in my life I want to be in a healthy relationship. I think I'm finally mature enough to handle all the work that its going to take. So now I just sit back and wait for one that is ready for the love I have to give. One that is ready for it too and wont toy with my heart like Semipro does. Even though lately he's been letting me in and I've really seen a different side of him, I have been playing it cool because I know its only a matter of time that he pulls away because he thinks we're getting too close. I want and need someone that is also ready for that Jones to come down without being afraid or intimidated by the feeling. It will be a challenge for me as well. Though I want it, I too am afraid of really loving someone. It has been so long since I've adored someone enough to let the words "I love you" slip from my lips, but I'm ready to tear down the wall I've built as well and let someone in. So I wait, both skeptical and optimistic that it will ever happen but this quote helps my optimism to outweigh my skepticism most days.

“Love has its own time, its own season, and its own reasons for coming and going. You cannot bribe it or coerce it or reason it into staying. You can only embrace it when it arrives and give it away when it comes to you.”
-Kent Nerburn

Song of the Moment : Keri Hilson "Knock You Down" feat. Ne-Yo & Kanye West

Honorable Mention - India Arie "Ready for Love"

yeah yeah I know.. sappy post... for some reason I'm starting to embrace the fact that I'm a romantic. Yes, I said it dammit... I'm no longer denying it. Now leave me alone!

Take this to heart Eb...I heard this from a friend of mine in high school.

Once love, always love.

LusciousRon March 6, 2009 at 5:57 AM

Loving and been loved in return is simply the best. Being romantic eases the harsh realities of life.

Trelly March 6, 2009 at 7:33 AM

I SO feel you on this. I was just saying the other day to someone that you those feelings don't regress. You might pack them away but you'll always feel what you feel for them, PERIOD.

^5 @ Jones to come down without being afraid or intimidated by the feeling

But ya know I've come to realize everyone is just as scared as we are. Just have to step out on faith though ya know? Good luck! :)

Nothing wrong with feeling the love, Eb!!

These quotes are definitely on point. People are quick to blame/beat up on love, when love itself is pure and unconditional. Its typically the human ego that gets involved and makes things complicated.

It's great that you're working on taking down your wall. There's an RBM out there somewhere who will take great joy in seeing what's on the other side of it!

It's Friday and I said I wasn't going to let my ex (the one that got away) cloud my mind today. But dammit Eb, I came here. LOL But I feel ya on everything you said.

dopeness just EB...
the part about you no longer denying it...
and the part about you being mature enough to handle the work involved is so so true...

Awww..this is sweet. The softer side of Eb, lol. It's all good. Loving someone is scary and makes you vulnerable, but when it's right you'll feel easy, light and beautiful-like a butterfly. I really hope it happens for you.

Yay for the romantic Eb! LOL

QuietStorm March 6, 2009 at 2:54 PM

I feel ya! This is where I am RIGHT NOW! A soul mate of mine is pressuring me with promises of love, trust, commitment and fun. He is scaring me to death!

Keith March 6, 2009 at 3:32 PM

I knew you were a romantic all along...You don't fool me...and the guy that finnally gets you, whether it's Semipro or whoever is going to be a very fortunate man.

Shy March 6, 2009 at 3:44 PM

I'm in a relationship right now that I feel is not right...it feels forced and rushed, and in the end, it might not last because he's not ready to put in the work. You hit the nail on the head with this: "So now I just sit back and wait for one that is ready for the love I have to give".

All I say is, "Me too".

Mimi March 6, 2009 at 4:33 PM

You BEEN knew you were a romantic!! LOL...you were just in denial. You're a taurus...it's in our blood. :)

IntrospectiveGoddess March 6, 2009 at 5:34 PM

I know for a fact I'm a romantic...I love love.....its a beautiful thing when you feel it, not so sure if I have ever felt it in return..but its so true that love never goes away even if it was with the wrong person...you are a good one cuz if I found out my ex was engaged I would probably cry.......

ugh@semipro

Trust you will find someone to love all your fabulousness w/o the game playing and back and forth...your too grown for that

A March 6, 2009 at 7:02 PM

Blu Jewel March 6, 2009 at 8:03 PM

Just change some of the names, places, events, and you could have very well have been talking about me. I recently reconnected with an old boyfriend and 20yrs later the love is still very much there and is even stronger than ever. I don't disagree that there are loves that will simply never die and those quotes are so on point.

Damn you Eb, I'm thinking about him and missing him even more than I already was *sigh*

Love to live; live to love!

Bloggal March 7, 2009 at 2:45 AM

babe, ain't a thang wrong with being a hopeless romantic. i'll be one til the day i die.

i really liked this post, though it's a little unnerving to me. here i am, thinking (hoping) that enough space and time will help me get over the ex i've been pining over for the past thre years, and i read this. comfirmation of what I already knew to be true. real love never goes away. it just hibernates...sigh.

love the quotes too. don't be shocked if you see one of them as my facebook status lol.

Angel March 7, 2009 at 3:01 PM

I agree, onec you have true true love it never dies, I still love two of my exes, one I was with 5 years and one 3 years I will never forget them (even though one is married with children)

I cant wait for you to find true love again!

1/3 March 7, 2009 at 4:16 PM

I learned this lesson the hard way dealing with my last relationship.

I'm glad that you still willing to open your heart and i know a great guy will come your way...one that doesnt play games:-)

Hope you are enjoying ur weekend!

CoogieCruz March 7, 2009 at 8:25 PM

Reminds me of a quote I often think about

"If two past lovers remain friends, either they're still in love or never were."

Wanted to share.

DrennaB March 7, 2009 at 11:08 PM

Real Talk, my next post was about me being ready to deal with a relationship. I'll do it tomorrow with my spin on it.

Anonymous March 8, 2009 at 3:14 PM

I know how you feel...that is if you were really truly in love...IT JUST DONT GO AWAY NO MATTER WHAT!!

Eb the Celeb March 8, 2009 at 3:18 PM

@Southern Lady - Its funny to hear you say that "one that got away" because its rare that you hear females talk about one... its usually men

@Keith - you are too sweet

@Shy - That what I fear most.. I dont want it to be that way just because I want to be in love. I pray that its organic and catches me off guard.

@Mimi - yes yes, I knew, but I wont admit that to anyone ever and now I have admitted it to the entire blogosphere

@Intro - Double ugh @ Semipro, I got a feelin he's going to come around when I'm over the situation, and that wont be good.

@bloggal - go ahead and jack the quotes... just glad that you saw something in them that you could relate to

@Charles - dark side? lol, I thought it was stepping into the light

@Coogie - Love that quote too! Thx for sharing

T.a.c.D March 9, 2009 at 3:21 PM

i can definitely feel you on this...its weird when that person you thought you were over and done with, you know that you still care, even if just a little...you'll have love i am sure of it...

Anonymous March 10, 2009 at 12:13 PM

Okay yes you said exactly what I thought you would say. I've dated guys and even been married but there is no one that I've loved and still love more than my very first boyfriend. He is not married and not in a relationship that I'm aware of. But when we hook up it just doesn't work. He even has my damn name on his neck and it stayed there even after I got married. I think about him often and just the other day I was thinking damn...I love that *****.

Go.

Anonymous March 11, 2009 at 11:27 AM

So true...great post! So relevant!

Just Kel March 17, 2009 at 3:42 PM

I'm responding all late... I came thru a while before but didn't comment... here goes...
