Randomisciously Thankful

In the spirit of Thanksgiving and since 7 is the number of completion,
I decided to list 7 random things I am thankful for :

1. I am thankful for finally finding a church in NYC that I love. It has been over 4 years since I've moved here and a little over a year that I've been attending this church. Finding it has truly been a blessing. God ain't threw with me yet but I have learned a lot. Part of me had forgotten what it really meant to fellowship. I don't believe in organized religion at all but I do believe in being spiritual and fellowshipping with other saints and I really feel like I'm at home when I'm there.

2. I am thankful for being able to go home and spend time with my family for a week. Seeing my 2 gorgeous nephews, my God daughter, going to the club and getting drinks for $5 when I'm used to paying $14 for them here in the city...lol.

3. I'm thankful for the hater/stalker that is still playing on my blog, leaving ignorant comments and messages in my shoutbox because like Katt Williams said "Understand people are gonna hate you regardless. Get that out of your head, that fantasy world where people ain't hating on you. You gotta be grateful. You need haters. WTF you complaining about. WTF do you think a haters job is? To f'ing hate. So let them do their damn job. WTF you complaining about." Here's the vid just in case you never saw it.

So I'm thankful I'm no longer mad because I realized its pointless to let anyone steal your joy. I'm grateful I have embraced my hater. So keep on posting from different ip addresses because now it makes me smile every time I get to block a new one.

4. I am thankful for all the instability 2008 has brought. Cue Destiny's Child "I'm a survivor" because even though I don't talk about it much on this blog, this has been a rough year. I am thankful for it though because it showed me how strong I am and that no matter what may come my way I'm going to make it, I'm going to take it head on and tackle the situation. I have changed jobs, removed some people from my life, made some new friends, and really started being content with everything I have been blessed with. This blog has helped me put so many thing into perspective. Especially the comments. Maybe I will do a post about my favorite comments because I am really grateful for my readers. Sometimes you just don't know how something you have said has really touched me. So I guess that's my #5.

5.

6. I am thankful to have for the first time, lived threw a part of history that my kids and grandkids will read about in their history books that I am proud of. For a while I thought all the stories I would be able to tell were that of tragedy; for instance what I was doing during 911 or things that went on during Katrina or the War in Iraq. But now I can tell them about the day that we elected the first African American president.

7. I am thankful for my health. So many times we just go day in and day out thinking we are obligated to be healthy, not knowing that people our age are fighting deadly diseases. The percentage of new AIDS cases in African American women is at an all time high. So again I am thankful for my good health and the health of my family. I have 2 great grandmothers in their late 80's that are alive and well. With the exception of a little diabetes and arthritis they are just as lively as they have ever been and it was a blessing being able to see them live to see a Black President after all the discrimination they have seen in their life time.

So what are you thankful for?

It's always good to go over what you are thankful for...it helps you remember what is important, and what matters, and it gives you perspective on what doesn't.

Great post Eb. We often forget how blessed we truly are and think that because we are living day to day, we are owed the opportunity to live issue free. Too often we take things for granted, especially the little things. It is great to see that you recognize those blessings and that you are thankful for them.

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

I've had a horrible semester in school, man troubles, money troubles...you name it. But whenever I get down I realize that I am BLESSED!! I am so lucky to be able to go to college. I am lucky to have a job, wait two jobs, even though I am still struggling. I have friends who have graduated and can't find jobs. I am blessed to be ALIVE!!! I have lost so many of my friends to so many different reasons. It's sad to go past the cemetery because I know so many people there.

Love the post. Happy Thanksgiving!

Been a lurker for a minute...

This was a very beautiful post. So much to be thankful for and you stated it so eloquently and beautifully. Don't know why this post brought me out of lurkdom, but it truly touched me and made me think of all the things I am thankful for and I just wanted to let you know that.

I'm especially thankful for my family, having a job (that stresses me greatly), but pays the bills, and for life. All too often I complain about this and that, but I'm thankful that the Lord has seen fit to spare my life each and every day. Thank you, Lord.

Have a Happy Thanksgiving, Eb.
