Music is my boyfriend!

Photobucket
1. Song that makes you dance, no matter what:
"Get Me Bodied" Beyonce

2. Song you'd use to tell someone you love them:
"With you" Tony Terry

3. Song that has made you sit down and analyze the lyrics:
"Retrospect for Life" Common feat. Lauryn Hill

4. Song you like that a two-year old would like:
"I like to move it, move it" from Madagascar

5. Song that gives you an energy boost:
"Just Fine" Mary J Blige

6. A song you and your grandparents would like:
"Never to much" Luther Vandross

7. Song you really liked when you were in high school that you still like now:
"What are we gonna do" Dru Hill
This song brings back so many memories. Our dance troop danced to this song at an assembly and it was like the ghetto forbidden dance and they were going to try and suspend us because it was too provocative...lol. I still think it was done tastefully til this day. Here is the page from my high school scrap book of pics from that dance.Another song that used to be my jam in high school that I still bring out of the crates on the regular is Jon B. "They don't know"

8. A sad song that would be in the soundtrack of the movie about your life:
"Stupid" Toni Braxton (I spent too many years of my life going back and forth with the ex and that song says it all)

9. Peppy song that would start the opening credits in the movie of your life:
"Live your life" T.I. feat. Rihanna

10. A good song from a genre of music that no one would guess you liked:
"Call me when you're sober" Evanescance

11. Song you think should have been playing when you were born:
"Star" Janelle Monae

12. Favorite duet artists:
Rick James and Tina Marie

13. A favorite song you completely disagree with:
"Nothin's Free" Lil Jon feat. Oobie
I agree that nothing in life is free but I don't agree with the stripping pimpin prostitute aspect of the song. That's still my jam though

14. Song that you like despite the fact that your IQ level drops several points every time you listen to it:
"Bust it Baby" remix Plies feat. Ne-Yo

15. Smoothe song for relaxing:
it's a tie - "Closer" Teedra Moses and "My first love" Jaspects feat. Janelle Monae

16. A song you would send to someone you can't stand:
"Down for my niggaz" C-Murda feat. Snoop Dogg

17. Favorite political track:
"My President is Black" Young Jeezy

18. Favorite track from a band considered a "super group":
"Bad Habit" Destiny's Child

19. A song that makes you reminisce about good times with a family member:
"The Boy is Mine" Brandy & Monica
This used to be me and my aunt's favorite song to do at karaoke

20. Favorite song from a soundtrack:
"Top Shotter" Belly Soundtrack - DMX feat. Sean Paul & Mr. Vegas

21. Your favorite song RIGHT now:
This changes like every 5 minutes but right now I have that new Ginuwine on repeat.

The hook got me:
If this is my last chance
to love you
I'm gonna play it like a grown man ought to
If I only got 1 shot
to win you
Then call me Jordan 4th quarter in '92
I'm gonna do it
No matter what your girlfriends say
I'm gonna do it
Believe me baby talking bout that kinda change
From a boy to a man
Like Barack and his plan
If this is my last chance....yeah

Have a great weekend everybody!

I'm finally going to see Maxwell and Jazmine Sullivan on Sunday. Still haven't decided who I'm going to take with me. I was going to take NC Boo, but he just done got on my nerves the past couple days. I can't stand an insecure man. So I invited him over to watch the game with me on Monday. That was cool at first until my phone rain or I got an email or text. He kept running his mouth talking about "Oh that must be ya other boo, or dang ya phone be off the hook" He lucky I didn't cuss his arse out then.

Tuesday we talked on the phone for a hot second. Wed he called and I was sitting under the dryer so I answered but told him I would call him back. Things got hectic, I had plans that evening so I never got around to it. I saw when I got home that he had called again that night when I was out but since my phone was in my purse I didn't get it. So I called him early afternoon Thursday but got no answer. He calls me back at midnight last night and I was just dozing off so I didn't answer. Do you know I woke up to a text that read "I get the picture." WTF - We have been playing phone tag. What the hell kind of picture is there to get. I just cussed his ass out via text. So hell NO I ain't taking his arse to the concert with me now. I can't stand no clingy, insecure, wanting all of ya damn time type of dude. Ugh!!

Anyway, I might take Semipro. Sunday is usually his daddy/daughter day but since the show doesn't start until 7:30 maybe he'll be able to make it. If not, it will be a ladies night.

I love your #2 that's a classic right there.

And #3 is one of my favorite songs of all time. It's too deep. And is one of those songs that will tug at your heart strings. I wrote a blog on the top 10 emotional rap songs once. This was my #1

You were only in high school when Dru Hill was out? Wow. They headlined one of the homecoming concerts when I was at Morgan.

Eb the Celeb November 21, 2008 at 12:32 PM

Tina Marie is my ultimate favorite!!! Love this post!!

Eb the Celeb November 21, 2008 at 3:39 PM

@Southern Gal - That song was played at my mother's wedding. I was like 8 years old and I still remember it til this day. Why I said that to my mom last year and she didn't even remember that was her wedding song... She is so whacky sometimes...lol

@jaded nyer - you have a music blog?

@Shelly Shell - So you ordered the macbook... good for you missy... now we can ichat from BK to harlem...lol

@Pink - no we were together monday... didnt talk tues... taled for a hot second on wed and I said I would call him back and forgot... so I called him Thursday after but he didn't answer... and he called me back at midnight last night... and I was sleep and then left that retarded text right after he called. I just got off the phone with him and cussed his ass out so that may be the end of that. I can see a chick getting her panties in a bunch about something like that but a guy... come on dude.

"With You"...
Brings back memories.
I have a love/hate thing going with that song.

I hope you have an awesome time at the J Sulli and Maxwell concert. Blow that gorgeous man a kiss for me :)

Hey, how was the Foreign Exchange concert by the way?

Rich Fitzgerald November 22, 2008 at 12:28 AM

ya'll some youngin's but you repped the old school a bit, so I can't complain.

T. Michelle Theus November 22, 2008 at 1:05 AM

lol @ #14!!! Me, too! I hate the meaning behind that damn song but it sounds so GOOD! =p

Anonymous November 22, 2008 at 1:23 AM

love the list. looks like you don't get much outside of your chosen genre though. there's some good stuff out there.

anyway, with your men. i'm not the most knowledgeable about relationships and i don't know the whole story and i'm not trying to offer advice i swear but it seems like
1. some of that shit seems so damn difficult. two people shouldn't be trying so damn hard if it's supposed to work. but it seems like you like having your options with men, you know, just in case. would simplifying your jump-offs help deal with the recurring bullshit; esp since you already know which one you like the most? lol. cough cough semi pro cough cough. you know, i'm just saying. i've never been able to deal with BS, even if it means I have options because of it. i'd rather be alone than play phone tag and have text wars.
2. any grown ass man playing child games gots to go. see-ccu-rrii-tyy! security!!!

Eb the Celeb November 22, 2008 at 4:11 AM

@Mika - Girl messing with black folks I got to that damn Foreign exchange show so late I only saw the last 2 songs... but what I saw was good

@Emeritus - lmao @ your coughing between Semipro. yes I like him the most... I finally started admitting that to myself... and I just find myself seeing so much of myself in him that I give him a pass... he does ish I would do before I get the chance to... he is just as busy as me... its just hard getting 2 taurus' to give a little. Its very slow progress... when it gets to the point where I feel we are at a stand still, I will pull out. The problem is if I could mix Semipro, NC Boo and Mr. no no no, they would make the perfect man... all of them have qualities that I want but never at the right times.

Anonymous November 22, 2008 at 4:23 AM

You religious girl? i'm not trying to have a sermon on the mount right now but your comment "The problem is if I could mix Semipro, NC Boo and Mr. no no no, they would make the perfect man... all of them have qualities that I want but never at the right times"
sounds so damn familiar. My friend was in your situation too. And she said the same exact thing about the three men in her life. I'm not going to spill her testimony. But you mentioned in another blog that you aren't trying to meet your hubby right now, just meet some men and date. So if you religious, tell God straight up to remove the ppl that shouldn't be in your life (this will be hard cuz a girl loves her options) and to send you some new ones that will help you grow into the typa girl that will be ready for marriage. Oh and ask if semipro is supposed to be your hubby too. Unless of course you know deep inside that he isn't supposed to be. but ask, im so dead serious. you might be surprised by the answer.

sorry about the novel but i would love it if you replied to this. i like hearing your thoughts.

Eb the Celeb November 22, 2008 at 4:35 AM

No apologies needed girlie... I'm not religious... but I am spiritual and believe in having a relationship with God so maybe I should do that. The problem with me and Semipro is that we are both true Taurus' we are both so bull headed that I'm pessimistic that it will ever work so I dont really think about it advancing as not to syke myself out... I know for sure there will be nothing long term with Mr. No no no... and I got into it with NC boo for being so clingy today so that's a wrap. But should definitely just come out and ask him about Semipro... even though I dont know if I want an answer just yet... whether he is the one or not I dont think I want to know right now because I'm just having fun.

Anonymous November 22, 2008 at 5:26 AM

Oh girl, just look at all the problems you and Semipro have. Ask God anyway, because girl, even if he is meant to be your 'one' both of you are not ready to be together. So don't worry about the answer. God knows you ain't ready and being ready for the 'one' could means a couple more years of you seeing other men and having fun and learning things about yourself that would make you and Semipro happy when the togetherness finally happens, if it's meant to happen. And when the time is right.... :-)

I'm just saying cuz I have two friends that have asked God straight up and he has revealed to them who the men are. But they are still on their grown woman grind, feel me?

Look at it this way. If he ain't the one, you can still ask for quality men to come your way. If he is, you can rest your mind and do your thing including seeing other ppl. The only thing you gotta worry about now is that he ACCEPTS the gift he has been given (which is you). Cuz we all got free will. God could straight up buy ur future man a wedding band and he still wouldn't propose. That's the choice he has to make: to essentially pick the choice God put there for him which is YOU and your fly self.

And trust me, if one man doesn't work out, there's another one in store. That's why I believe in the idea of many "ones."

Goodness I hope he doesn't read this. I'm not trying to instigate anything. And I hope I'm not overpowering you with the religious talk. I just think that right now, you're paying your dues but one day we're going to get a really happy post about some dude who gives you butterflies and all that. Nothing but good feeling towards you girlie.

p_nami November 22, 2008 at 9:35 AM

Oooh...i love that comment Emeritus made!! Maybe I should pray for the strength to walk away?

So...take me out of the running for Sunday. I have a conference call at 7.

But what are you doing today? I am meeting with my the girl I mentor today at Huemans. I will text you when I think you're up

Eb the Celeb November 22, 2008 at 10:01 AM

@Emeritus - That's why I dont want to know because I know we aren't ready to be together... I'd rather stay in the dark about it for the time being... but the asking for quality men to come my way is definitely a go! And uuummmm girl do you know something I dont... he better not know a thing about this blog...lol

@dollface - hit me up... dumb asses have been yelling outside for the past 30 minutes...only 3.5 hours of sleep and I am up already... it sucks!

MzInspiredMind81 November 22, 2008 at 11:37 AM

I had to jack it for my blog! LOL. Ok, what year did you graduate H.S.? The reason I asked is, I graduated in 1999 and 'These are the Times' was our Prom theme(and everyone else I knew's theme that year too!)

Eb the Celeb November 22, 2008 at 11:40 AM
