Road 2 being a better me... being a better listener & Eb the Bartender

I had a revelation around 5 o clock this morning. I guest bartended last night... shout out to all my peoples that came thru and watched Eb slang drinks (pics below) and then we went out and partied after. Way too many drinks = Eb thinking wait too much.

I never understood how some of my homeboys could come to me and spill their guts about everything worrying them, going on in their life, and could never be that open with their girlfriends. I realized last night its because the home girl just listens. She is there for him, and doesn't judge... because for the most part she doesn't feel like it will involve her in any way. When you are with the person, its human nature a little to try to determine how that person's decisions will effect you. Last night, for the first time I was on the other end, and although I'm not the significant other, it hurt that he didn't come to me and felt like he couldn't confide in me with the craziness that has been going on with him lately, and yet he could talk to one of my friends about every aspect of it.

So another tidbit to add to dedication 2009 to being a better me is to be a better listener. Sometimes people dont want advice, they just want to know that they can come to you and vent. With him I have always been so opinionated about everything and maybe in his head he felt like I would judge his decisions rather than just opening my ears. So I'm working on that... and not for him, but experiencing the other end of that just made me realize it. I have to do this for me because I want to be that person who people that I care about feel that they can come to about any and every thing.

OK now on to the good stuff.

I like the baaaaaaaarrrttttteeeeennndeeerr... lol

I so agree. I wholeheartedly believe in being a slick listener as well as a slick talker!

I so want to go to bartending school so I can do that as a side hustle!

Wow Eb..I really like the new do..it's really sexy...(I think all barmaids look sexy-lolol) You know how to make a "Woo Woo"? OMG,I'm coming to New York.

This guy made it for me a few years ago and I loved it...Nobody else knows how to make the drink or has even heard of it.. I know I wasn't crazy, that it was a real drink.

Oh Did I tell you how sexy the new
do looks?

Dont forget, this is also why the girlfriend feels threatened by the homegirl (although I know you're more self confident to feel threatened?). He can just chill with the homegirl, he doesn't have to be the perfect gentleman, he doesn't have to choose his words as carefully, etc, etc. It's just two friends just chilling with her.

Question. How will you be able to convince him that you are a better listener when he is already on the defense so to speak?

Eb the Celeb April 11, 2009 at 5:14 PM

@Keith - Its only vodka, peach schnapps and a splash of cranberry so if they have the ingredients next time when you order you can just tell them what's in it

& thx for the compliments on the hair :)

Thx devyne for the follow!

@buttahfly - I was hurt more than anything and had to regroup before I spoke to him so I didn't come off defensive. I seriously wanted to say wtf didn't you come to me if you needed someone to talk to. Instead I just approached him and was like If you ever need someone to talk to know that I'm here. Just to listen without judgment. I'm leaving it in his hands as to whether he believes it or not and will start confiding in me. All I can do is just lend my ear if he ever needs it.

I've vowed to become a better listener too. I thought I was until someone very close to me shocked me into reality.

You look like you were having a good 'ole time.

I take pride in the fact I'm a good listener. People always come to me with their problems.

I'm living lavishly through you...I always wanted to be a bartender on the side.
