Sunday I spent all day with some friends at Lucky Strike, eating drinking, and watching the games. I got the Cardinals going all the way.
Monday I had lunch with some people from NC that I hadn't seen in a while in Dupont Circle. When we were leaving the restaurant we saw this.
Then we had a cook out that nightBut today was the main event. A couple hours ago I was on the National Mall, freezing my behind off for change... and especially because I'm anemic... this was a big deal for me to weather the Arctic temperature for hours on end but it was all worth it. Woke up at 4am, put on 3 layers of clothing under my coat and headed out.
The metro ride was smooth sailing. I had my Obama Metro card in hand!
No problems at all until we got to the mall. This is a pic of the line just to get off the metro. Then once you get off you have to take an escalator to the street and yes there was another line for that.We went to the 7th street entrance where they said you would be able to walk onto the mall.90minutes later they tell this huge crowd they aren't opening this entrance. You know black folks were hot! We headed down to 12th and still made it with a good position in front of a jumbo tron.
The sun finally decided to join us...So I did a quick video update
Here was the view in front of me
Here was the view behind me
By this time I was all smiles. Proud to be an American, and excited about witnessing something so historic.
Snipers were in full effect
It was freezing out there...They played the concert from Sunday on the jumbo trons while we waited for the ceremony to begin so people sang and danced to keep warm.
Close-up of all the VIP's
Finally Barack makes his entrance
MY PRESIDENT IS BLACK!!!
The crowd goes wild when he gets sworn in.

It was an amazing experience... that I will cherish for the rest of my life. Didn't find my husband though...lol... but I wasn't really looking either! History baby... and I was there!
Leaving was hell though. DC ya'll really need to get it together. They had all them volunteers and none of them knew how the heck to get out. All the streets were blocked off... this was the line to get on the subway. Then we walked farther to other stations they said would be open and weren't. We ended up walking I don't even know how long... at least a mile and a half...back to where we were staying. Bodies aching and freezing, but it was still all worth it.
Watched the parade from the spot though...lol.

what a great summary and it looks like you had an amazing time - one you'll be telling your great grandkids about...can you believe that?!? amazing.
i wish i were there - but i was glued to my television all day and did not miss one second.
happy inauguration day!
Hey chica! Thanks for braving the cold to represent :).
Girl, I just ran across a YouTube video of you and Erro @ SolVillage...lol. He was in Annapolis last nite, needless to say I had a ball.
Very cool documentations! Very lovely day! YES WE DID!
glad to hear/see you enjoyed witnessing history.
appreciate that summary madam...lol @ watching the parade...body said "enough is enough"!
oh wow!!! what a great time for you to be able to be a part of.
I have to say... I'm glad that I decided not to go... I would've been STUGGLING in that cold.
My Dad is the Diplomatic Assistant to our Ambassador and offerred to pull some strings to get me (and him of course) in some seats with our Ambassador... and I had to decline... that weather is just screaming the flu. LOL
I'm glad I got to see it from your (great) point of view though!
Great blog!!! =)
Lol @ people throwing their shoes!
Thanks for pics!
I know it had to be great to actually be there...watching on tv can't compare...
Way to represent EB!! Thank you for posting the pictures and footage so quickly. I had to work today, but I disappeared for about an hour (shh, don't tell nobody) so that I could watch President Obama and Vice President Biden get sworn in. Seeing that huge crowd of happy people was so moving... and knowing that you were in the midst of that has got to be the greatest feeling.
hmmm... fab day... so, did u catch a husband. in ur previous post, you said you were going to the inauguration to fish for a husband... or u forgot...? ....
Great Pictures Girlie...And an equally great post..(but then again,I knew it would be..)You all looked like you had a great time.
I sure wished I had been there.
(Even though they trounced my Eagles,I got the Cardinals winning the whole thing too!)
Lol, you got around, good job.
Lucky Lucky Lady!Even though I think the crowd would have been too much for me I still would have loved to be able to say I was there.
gurl u made us feel like we were there. Great JOB. I'm happy that you were able to be a part of all that :)
YESSS our president is Black
I am glad that you were able to experience this (though I am sure being frozen for most of it left something to be desired - like HEAT!). But nevertheless, I am sure you had a wonderful time. I watched it while at work and cried like a baby...
I enjoyed watching all ya'll on CNN.. lol Metro is no good with crowds you were better off walking.
oh baby, you are the cutest i swear.
thanks for holding down us NYC bloggers who couldn't make it, making us proud and all, with your Obama metro cards and what not, lol.
great post. glad you had a good time and you didn't catch anything in that cold, but as you said, it was all worth it.
*lets out sigh of relief* it's feeling like a good day y'all.
Loved the Recap, Eb!! I heard DC was CRAZY! Straight madness, yet, still fun! LOL
I was there with you in spirit, sis.
dsp
Thank you for going and giving up all the info. You are a better person that me. I couldn't be out there in the cold, crowds, and the madness. It's great that you were able to experience history first hand. Kudos.
Props to you Eb!!! I started to go out...but ended up watching from my warm comfy couch LOL. I couldn't do it!!
YAY our President is BLACK!!!!
So did you find your future husband?
The fact that ya'll were only a mile and a half away seems like a god send.
Were there any restaurants that you could have hung out in till it all thinned out?
I couldn't even recognize you in your freezing cold clothes. I think if you would have met a man, he woulda been the one. He would have felt like God had truly blessed him once he saw you in your true EB The Celeb self.
You definitely had a ball! I'm still 'j' that I didn't get to go..but I was glued to my tv all day yesterday so I guess I can't complain to much.
great pics an video...this is true history and walking a mile in the cold would normally sound crazy as hell to me but nope...not for a BLACK PRESIDENT
A great summary! you sound like you had an amazing time the photos and videos were so excellent I felt like I was there :)
WHAT A DAY HUH!?!!?!?
I'm happy...proud!
Sorry I missed you this wknd, Eb!
