Email, instant messaging, and cell phones give us fabulous communication ability, but because we live and work in our own little worlds, that communication is totally disorganized. ~Marilyn vos Savant
We live in a world where no one hardly speaks to each other anymore. With facebook statuses, twitter updates, texts, BBM, emails... a lot of things can be misunderstood when you are just reading words. There have been times I have been joking and forgot to put the famed "LOL" behind it and people have gotten offended. There are certain times people may read something I wrote in the wrong tone and may have gotten offended when I didn't mean for it to come off that way at all. So this is to say that we have to communicate better as a nation. Social media is cool but if you can't sit face to face with someone and have a quality conversation, work out a problem, or just to say hi for goodness sake then you might need to re-evaluate yourself a bit. Most of this stems from men that never want to talk about anything and or those cowardly men that dump people via text, email, etc. Oh and also those men that see my BBM and don't respond. Ninja the thing has a "R" next to it, I know you saw that mess you better talk back to Eb. Return a phone call dog on it. OK I digress...some quotes about communication.
The way we communicate with others and with ourselves ultimately determines the quality of our lives.
~Anthony Robbins
Electric communication will never be a substitute for the face of someone who with their soul encourages another person to be brave and true.
~Charles Dickens
Writing has nothing to do with communication between person and person, only with communication between different parts of a person's mind.
~Rebecca West
Any problem, big or small, within a family, always seems to start with bad communication. Someone isn't listening.
~Emma Thompson
Bad human communication leaves us less room to grow.
~Rowan D. Williams
But communication is two-sided - vital and profound communication makes demands also on those who are to receive it... demands in the sense of concentration, of genuine effort to receive what is being communicated.
~Roger Sessions
Communication is a skill that you can learn. It's like riding a bicycle or typing. If you're willing to work at it, you can rapidly improve the quality of every part of your life.
~Brian Tracy
