I can do bad all by myself

I saw this travesty of a movie last weekend with my homie The Jaded NYer who just happens to be the biggest Tyler Perry hater I know. A couple weeks ago she was over and I held her down and tied her up and made her watch Daddy's Little Girls and was surprised that after watching I was able to win her over on him a bit. Well this movie just reversed the little bit of progress I'd made. The movie was just flat out horrible. I understand Madea, because there is a "madea" in my family but there was no purpose for her in this movie. It dumbed down the real issues at hand. Just like there was no purpose for her in Daddy's Little Girls... she should have been kept out of this movie as well. Taraji really saved this movie. Everything about it was predictable. I don't know how many times I leaned over to Jaded and said "watch blah blah blah happens next" and sure enough 2 seconds later it happened. The highlight of the movie was that booty shot of Brian White. Yyyyeeesssss!!! Although this movie was a mess, I'm still a Tyler Perry fan. I understand and respect his hustle and truth be told he is making jobs for African Americans in film, tv, and production that otherwise wouldn't be there. Everyone knows hollywood will only let a certain amount of us be on top in the industry at the same time so Tyler has made opportunities for a lot of up and comers and I will always support him because of that. But I cannot support this movie. My girls were in it though... Mary J. Blige did well and here is a cute video of her and Taraji interviewing each other. Gotta love it!

The church scenes were most definitely too long... and why did there have to be a wedding?? why does every black movie have to end with a wedding... and then the wedding turned into a block party... so ghetto... bwhahahahaha

I loved the storyline but there was too much going on that took away from that.

It was okay for me, but I agree with you...the church stuff was way too long and the wedding wasn't needed at all. The funniest thing was when Joe said..."that backwards boy out there washing the soap..." Sorry...that was funniest part of the movie for me...

I saw this movie with my wife the other night...While it was predictable, I agree with you that I respect Tyler Perry's hustle and the fact that he's creating jobs for blacks in Production, and acting that wouldn't otherwise be there.

If you get a chance..Go check out
"Precious" with Monique,Mariah Carey and Paula Patton. It's Directed by fellow Philadelphian
Lee Daniels (who made Monster's Ball) and Produced by Tyler Perry and Oprah Winfrey. They are saying that Monique could cop an Oscar for her performance!

I still respect his hustle but I don't think after this movie I can stand up for him anymore. This movie was just a bunch of sad cliche and mish mosh of other movies.

Like I said on Twitter, Mary and Glady's sang their butts off but that movie bled my soul dry.

Yeah, I always wait on Madea movies to come out on DVD...if I bother seeing them at all. I really enjoyed the one with Shemar Moore and Kimberly Elise. After that it became sort of cookie cutter.

What's up, Eb?
