The book signing tonight with be hosted by Michaela Angela Davis, so I figured why not do an RBW Spotlight on her right now as well since its been a minute since I've done one.
If you don't know who she is as an urban blogger or writer than you haven't been studying your craft very well. She has been in the business for a long time as a critic and a writer on fashion, the urban lifestyle, race, gender, and the Hip Hop Culture. She has held high calibur positions at Essence, Honey, and Vibe magazines; been a celebrity stylist for too many to name but here are a few to show you that she's...in the words of The Clipse new song, "Kinda like a Big Deal,"
Oprah Winfrey, Beyonce, Prince, Diana Ross, Donald Trump, Mary J. Blige and LL Cool J. She's also been featured on camera in the documentary, Souls for Black Girls as well as the BET forum Hip Hop vs. America.

An avid public speaker, in 2006 and 2007, she co-produced the Essence Music Festival’s Empowerment Seminar Series as well as served as a speaker and/or moderator on the panels “Who You Calling a Ho? (2006) and “Sisters Take Issue with Our Images” (2007.) She's also contributed eye-opening commentary in several books including Everything But The Burden: What White People are Taking from Black Culture, and is the author of Beloved Baby, a scrapbook and journal to record important events in an African American baby's life.

Currently, Michaela is developing an “Urbanista” online magazine and television show, documentary film and book exploring race, gender, beauty and identity.
