Detoxifying my mind, body, & soul of its impurities

Today I'm starting my 15 day spiritual fast. I feel like my life has been off kilter lately and I need an intervention to get me back focused. My fast will entail the following:

Gym : 4-5 times a week
No eating before 5pm
No red meat or pork when I eat after 5pm
Daily scripture reading (I'm using the Purpose Drive Life Journal as a guide)
No alcohol
No cussing
I can only drink water or hot tea

Most of this is going to take a lot of discipline from me. I don't have a obnoxiously pouty mouth but I can let off a few from time to time. I'm definitely going to try to go out less so I'm not tempted to drink. I'm always going to open bar events or events where I someone I know has bottle service so this is going to be a challenge. Dragging myself in the gym 4-5 times a week is also going to be a challenge. No eating during the day shouldn't give me too many problems even though I'm a foodie, but I am going to miss my bacon. I gotta start thinking up some creative ways to cook chicken and seafood so I'm not eating the same thing every day. Oh and the biggest thing is going to be only drinking water for 15 days. I know my body will appreciate it because I only drink Vitamin Water. I never drink regular plain water I think it's disgusting but that will be part of my fast as well.

I'm fasting to get some clarity on my purpose in life before the New Year. 2009 has came and went and I thought this was going to be my year to shine. Remember my motto was "The shine is mine in '09." Well its just about over and I feel like in a lot of aspects of my life I'm in the same position I was last year this time. There was little growth for me in 2009, and I was to take these next 15 days to reflect on that so I can go into 2010 with a clear plan. Not only say what I'm going to do but map out a path to ensure I'm not feeling this way again at the end of 2010 about my progress as I'm feeling right now.

good luck with the fast, I hope it provides the clarity your looking for. I'll eat a couple BLT's for you lol

Girl good luck with that... I'm not the best with eating so I should be the last one to talk but just make sure you're getting all your vitamins and stuff daily.

The alcohol shouldn't be that difficult, tho. Just remember- it's EMPTY calories and you don't need it.

Happy Fasting!! lol

I know what you mean. 2009 wasn't the year that I planned for myself either. I figure instead of waiting till my birthday to do resolutions, I can start now and go into 2010 w/ a whole new outlook. Good luck.

Good luck!!! You'll be good as long as you get in more than one meal after 5. I'd suggest working out at 430 or as close to 5 so that you cant eat when you're done working out. I dont know if Vitamin Water is actual water, I thought it was closer to gatorade. The Vitamin Water is a good look tho b/c you'll get the sugar and electrolytes you need to make it through the day

good luck with this fasting sounds like something i need to be a part of except the part no eating before 5pm i dont think i can manage to do that lol...if you dont eat before 5pm by time 5pm your eyes are going to be bigger then your stomach and your going to be eating up all types of stuff lol. Your even going to skip breakfast? One egg white and a slice of toast wouldnt be too bad? think about it... dont wont you passing out on the tread mill because you didnt have any food in your system. kay just looking out...

@peyso - no i only drink vitamin water regularly... with the acception of vodka and juice...lol... and for the fast I'm only drinking regular water which is disgusting btw

also I went to the gym in the morning... I think that works best since it gets me drinking a lot of water early on and I guess fills me because I didn't really get hungry until about 3

@shawndea - day 1 I cheated a lil... i had a hot chocolate instead of tea. but I'm about to eat a chicken caesar salad right now (with a side of fries) and that will fill me up. The point of the fast in not to binge eat because you have the chance to. I'm a foodie too so I know what you mean that's why you have to fast for a purpose and if you keep your eye on that goal, it will help you make it through

Good Luck Eb...I'm doing this thing where I'm only eating one meal a day..Either a big lunch or
just Dinner.

I too am only drinking Water or Tea
(Ice or Hot)

Gotta drag myself to a gym too..I'm notoriously lazy....

I'm not trying to find clarity, just trying to lose a few pounds...but hopefully a little clarity won't hurt me either.-:)

Keith, just for the record one large meal a day will slow your metabolism down to a rate where your not burning any fat. Your body start to understand that it wont have another meal for a really long time and wont burn any fat. You should try eating 5 really small meals a day, w/ breakfast being the largest and the meals getting smaller throughout the day. Also, have a really big glass of really ice cold water when you wake up. It will jump start your meatbolism

Omg! I've been feeling the need to do a fast also. This has to be a sign. I'm gonna do 15 days with you, slighly altered plan though.

Good luck with the fasting. I will let you know right now that I feel you about things staying the same in '09. I thought things would change for me, but sure enough I'm still in the same crap of a situation, like you, I am also trying to change this before entering the new year. May your journey be as enlightening as I plan mines to be.

i definitely like the idea of cleansing yourself for 2010...i can't say that i am in the same position because everything in my life has changed but clarity and purpose for the next year would be a wonderful way to start off the year...
