Ya'll know I keep me a blog boo... many have graced that illustrious title of officially being Eb's blog boo. We've had MistaSwag, Soumy, G-Sweet, and my current blog boo of the moment is Mr. Socialight... but have you ever had a cyber boo or email boo or crackberry boo. If there is such a term, I think I have one.
OK, let me explain.
So you know how Essence Mag has those emails at the end of articles in the mag and on their website. So a couple weeks ago... I read about some dudes story and sent in an email. I never do this so it must just have been one of them days when I was bored or something. Not even responding to the dude, I was responding to the scenario because I was positive it was going to some editor of the magazine and not the guy anyway. Why on Monday did the dude email me.
I didn't even remember responding to it. I had to go back and read the article to even figure out what the heck he was talking about. Do you know me and this dude have been emailing back and forth for the past couple days.... and I'm talking about the first 2 days was non-stop all day going back and forth on blackberry's. It was kinda cute. He's not really my type physically. He looks just like the type of dude I would date back in college though. But its just funny how you meet people. He told me he got about 5000 emails and 90% of them were from desperate women.
I'm just mad because if I knew that the emails actually got to them, I would have emailed a couple of them "Do Right Men...." whew because there were a couple scrumptulous ones that could have gotten it all kinds of ways...lol.
Sidenote
2009 is going to be a funny dating year, I just know it... so ya'll already know that I am sorta kinda considering putting milk in the coffee... and a couple months ago I joined a dating site. But I refuse to pay...lol. So I can't interact with anyone so I'm never on there. Whether things are going good or bad with Semipro and NC Boo, I think in January I might do a 30 day thing. Just pay for one month to see what's out there... lol; what ya'll think? I've gotten over the whole being desperate if your on a dating site... it took me a while to get over that complex. Now I'm cool with it but just like that pic at the top... the ish scares me to death that I go to meet someone and they arse turn out looking like that...lol; Or put a pic up when they were 300 pounds lighter than they are now....lol

Ha...that online dating picture is funny as fuck. I remember one guy I was going to hook up with told me he looked like the light skinned dude off of the Matrix, and this fool was fat, short and dark skinned. So I can feel you on the skepticism.
About milk in coffee...girl I say go for it!!! Variety is the spice of life. And I can live vicariously through you (until one brave clear soul decides he must have me).
And aint nothing wrong with a email boo....something to do is something to do until you get bored.
Lol I say go for it, why not!! Do the dating site :)
Wow to the guy responding to you, I had the same perceptions as you did about them not really reading the emails, but I guess they do.
Just have fun man, I'm looking forward to your dating tales in 09 :)
LOL... oooh a cyber boo... sounds very interesting. You must have stood out from all the rest for him to pick you and then to continuously email you throughout the day.. oohhh is there a maybe meet up in the works?
Meh! I say do it, there is no stigma attached to that, put milk in your coffee while you're at it, I did it once and ended up in a relationship for two years, my sister did in fact married someone she met in eHarmony which then in turn got us two more weddings out of it one of ours with one of his and a his parents getting back together
p.s And they DID speak about how they met in the damned ceremony believe you me
awwww girl you have to get yours anyway you know how. you work that dating site! let us know how it goes.
i use to have a membership on black people meet, i liked it for a minute it was something to do.
i say go for it! 2009 is going to be the year...i have plans on meeting my future husband in '09!
have a great weekend!
To much action walking the streets for me to give internet much thought.
Only thing I can say is take it slow.
I have "talked" to guys through the internet before. I even meet one once he is a good friend now.
I am thinking about the dating sites online. But, I don't want to pay.
I am not looking to find my husband but it is fun and why not.
And I didn't know that they forward emails either. Thanks for that info.
I did the online thing for a hot minute. It was addictive as hell cuz I wanted to get my money's worth.
Ironically, I was always too scared to meet ppl in person.
08 aint even over yet...you better do this year right!! Milk in the coffee, huh? Well...do what you do, I ain't mad atcha.
But I don't think those dating sites are a good thing...its like a big E Meat Market type thing...and that kinda rubs me the wrong way. I think e dating just opens up the portal for crazies...but there are some legitimate people on there though...you just gotta drudge through the murk.
-Charles
@contagiously - I know right... I thought the same thing... especially with it just being words and not even knowing what I looked like.. he's cool though
@ Q - a co worker recently got married off some jewish dating site... like 8 months after they met... that whole thing just went to fast for me... I definitely aint looking for a husband that fast... I got a couple more years... not until 2012...lol
@clnmike - maybe down there but aint enough action in the streets of NYC
@charles - I am beyond done with 2008... this year has been a roller coaster for me... done with grad school, job changes, relationship instability, having to remove some friends from my circle... I want 2009 to hurry up and get here... I need balance...
There's nothing to it BUT to do it! Just be careful [dat all]. :-)
**writing down to email the next installment of Do Right Men**
I thought about online dating once. But with my luck, I'll end up with a boogeywolf posing as Mr GQ.
cyber boos, lol.
never tried the online dating scene. did that lame mack to a chick on Hi5 or Sconex (clearly back in JHS/early HS), but stopped after a while.
good luck with that. hope it goes well. that month may be all you need. who knows?
I almost spit out my water when you said it goes right to them. I think the only reason I never responded to some of those fine ass do right men is because I thought it may end up on teh screen of some editor playing any meany miney mo, but now that I know it goes striaght to them...
Just wait until Beyonce's Fine ass bodyguard is featured in the do right men section...I'm all up in that one.
Dating Smating. That's how I feel about that.
I like the cyber boos becuase i like getting emails. I have a couple of people on my bb that i only text but would never call or want to meet up with.. I just like see thier words and responding.
and i must thank you for introducting me to Your cyber boo who has quickly become my cyber crush.
Ohhh! They respond?? ::getting naughty ideas:: Dating is funny, period - so you are going to have a HILARIOUS years, lol
I have an email, text buddy..a friend that moved to NY to follow his dreams as a musician and now he is this ill traveling drummer. He just can't leave me lone'! So yummy..*sigh*
Hey eb, I say go for the online dating thing and go for the milk...life is too short, and u never know the outcome of something until u try!
@jasmine - lol... I sued to have a thing for the bodyguard... did a post about it a while back... I'm over him now though... I think...lol
and ummm... I'm gon need you to fall back from my blog boo...lol;
@ sha boogie - ooooooooooh, I'm telling snappy...lol
I say go for it. At the very least it will make for some great posting/reading.
PS I am loving the rotation. That Mario song is that deal. I have always liked him, but he just took it to anohter level with this one.
I'm too excited for 2009...big things poppin come hell or high water..lol.
Recently, I surprised myself though and started talking to this guy I met online, but you know how some guys can seem "too nice"? Like ok buddy, what's REALLY going on?
As for that 30 day thing...DO IT!! You never know right?
dating sites aren't bad at all. cream in coffee? um, as someone who has recently sampled, i'm here to let you know the combination is TIIIIGHT.
i say do the damn thing, mami.
girl u need to link the names of ur blog boos. the only one i check is is mistaswag, & he seems to be a hottie!!!
not sure what article ur talking about, i hardly read mags, just glance thru.
at 2009 being fun for u, goodluck. this yr I can swear my dating life would fit a comedy or soap opera, one of them. 09, if in not in a relationship, Im going cold turkey from Jan 1st to April
umm. why did i not know this blog existed? yeah, so... the Do Right Men emails do go straight to an inbox that doesn't really get much attention. i was shocked when our editor told us that in a mtg. lol. crushing woman's dreams everywhere!
Eb - we have to meet! i'm going to be at the foreign exchange show tomorrow night. since i know what you look like, i'll look for you. at least i'll try. =/
Ha! Not exact same situation but, I've had one before. Talking about back on forth on a social networking site messaging all day long. How we even got any work done or regular daily activities I don't know.
I don't trust it myself...I prefer
meeting people face to face..on the
street or in the club..or in the laundromat....
@rungirl - yes that Mario is the bizness... both tracks!
@bombchell - sorry for the lack of links but their all in my blog roll
@jac - girl IDK... I know you frequent jonesin' all the time... so thx for taking a peep into RBW... some might say this is where the real party is...lol
and still undecided on foreign exchange... the weather is suppose to be terrible and I am one that hibernates when it rains so we'll see. Definitely look for me though
First of I just want to tell you that the music is extra dope... why am I officially in love with that "My First Love" by Jaspects, very hot!
But girl e-love can be a great thing, you take the same chance in a lounge, grocery store, city street, etc... at least you get a glimpse into their personality a lil' bit, just follow your instinct and you'll be A-OK...
Hahaha. Now you got me wanting to crack open my Essence and get to emailing, lol.
You know what?
I had thought that maybe I need to move from this small city I lived in to a larger one like NYC.
In order to meet a good brother.
And then you tell us that there is nothing there either.
Dag.
What's a girl to do?
The problem is that there are more women then good men.
do it... dating... sounds quite exciting... my friend got on one and she has already met a kool guy...
just be cautiously smart.
cyber might be interesting but nothing beats the real thing
Ahhh I thought about going on one of those dating sites before was suppose to be this year...and now it's November.
The site I was looking at wanted like $50 bucks I think. I've never had a blog boo but I have met guys online. I met two guys online I should say both were on black planet.
One I converse with every blue moon and the other not at all. I think both of them would have turned out the same way had I met them at the local market...lol
Just try... and if you go anywhere with them be sure to post a description of them and their license plate..just in case we have a problem..LOL
Go b.
I never had a problem with e-chicks faking the look, just the personality. They sometimes turn out to be either low-self esteemy, or jealouss I do a lot of things on the net, and I've met a lot of people because of that. I haven't met one who could handle it...even as a friend.
I'll stick to the tangibles...
great post, chica
on the train on my way to work two days ago i saw the most handsome 'milk' man evah! let me tell you, handsome ie. george clooney. yes he had 10 years on me at the least and would definitely be the milk in my coffee but if he had said hi or given me the sign i woulda been all over that. too bad he was talking to someone he got on the train with.
girl, i say go for it. to both.
milk in coffee is the black woman's revolution. 3 of my friends have gone that route and are LOVING it. I however am tooo much of an chocolate-aholic.
hope '09 proves fruitful for you.
I'm open to e-dating, but I prefer it happen more naturally like via facebook with someone from YEARS ago, or elementary school who I never knew/thought would turn out to be handsome one day, LOL!
Ha!
You prolly need to g'head and let dude e-hit it! Ok I'm clownin, but thats how stuff starts tho. I met a woman online 5yrs ago, we got married, and now have a 1yr old.
I ain't gonna lie, when I look back at how things used to be in the early days, it was cute and all love.
I haven't had a cyberboo since I was like 18 kickin' it in AOL chat!! Have fun with the email homie though -I NEVER knew they forwarded those emails on to those people.
Oh and I'm TRYING to make my 2009 fun in terms of dating but we're going to have to see. I swear the '08 looked like complete shit!
damn girl, you get a million comments!
i'm totally down for cyber dating. if shit continues not to work out in real life, that's where i'm at in 09 too lol.
@alise - yes that joint with janelle monae is my jam!
@sharon - your definitely not missing anything... bigger city means more chicks fighting for the same dudes attention so most of them are feeling themselves
@mr. chap - so are you saying that I'm crazy or half a low self esteem if I have an e-boo... lol... I'm just messing I know you werent directing that at me... but I feel you.
@kay* - see that's my problem as to why it probably will never happen because I never see a whiteboy out that could get it... like I see some that are more handsome then others but none that gave you that feeling you had
@sesi- I love my chocolate too much too... but I just feel like I need to just try it out once to see what's its like... I'm curious
@rippa - see success stories like yours is what puts me at ease about the whole situation
@miss bb - your not the only one who had a shitty dating year in 2008...
Thanks for coming by my site.
And I love that picture down there with those words written down that womans back...
Whew.
Anyway, I considered joining dating sites at one time, however, I have since decided I have more important shit in my life to do besides date... Like get my little sister into a decent college and then relocate so I can use some of this talent I have.. LOL...
But if you do it, do share.
Especially if you start dating the white guys.
I can't even see myself doing the white guys girl.
ugh.
Not even attracted.
I tried the online thing, and quite frankly, i left it alone because of the numerous requests for conversation, email, etc...i just couldn't keep up. Although i met some very interesting people, it was not worth my money to continue. I still have a few very good friends from those meetings, so i can say it ain't all bad.
It seems like EVERYBODY has been posting about relationships this weekend. I was just getting ready to plug my stuff and then I saw this post. So I definitely gotta plug my stuff now! It's the November 16 post, in case other people wanna drop by.
I did the internet dating thing, for a while. It was a waster of time, so I'm glad I'm going out and meeting folks now.
IMO dating sort of sucks. It's so much workhaving to "try" people on for size. See if they like what you likeand what not. But, it makes for some funny stories, and something to do on a Tuesday-Saturday night. LOL
Just have fun with it E. And please update us, on what's good. ^^
You know...there's a "Do Right" man or two that I would not mine cyber dating, lol...
and you can have the milk, I will keep taking my coffee black.
I think dating is so overrated...
i think you should try the online dating thing. i have a relative who had her online boo in town this wknd & they had a blast. my friend has been married to her online boo for over 5 yrs. good luck if you do decide to date online!
Lol, girl I'm not even mad at you. I have a Myspace Boo, Facebook Boo, Yahoo Boo, AIM boo, Downelink Boo, Sidekick Boo, and now I have a Blogspot Boo, loll. I got them cyber boo's girl! So do your thing with email boo. Be careful though. Oh and I had no idea the people actually respond either.
Seriously, I don't know what section you're talking about in Essence, but writers LOVE to hear that folks actually read what they wrote, especially if it's good feedback. I'm not surprised that he got back to you.
Now as far as meeting people online, I've only had one incident where the woman looked NOTHING like her pictures. The ones I've met from my blog have almost always been pretty. They've just been on the eccentric side! One found the Lord. Another started doing porn. Yet another still calls even though she's "in love" with her VERY butch lesbian girlfriend...The stories go on and on.
I pretty much stick to meeting women offline these days LOL
go for it! and please let us know how it goes because I've been thinking of doing that, too. lol
everyone i know thats done the dating site thing aually likes it. i dont think its makes you desperate...times are hard these days and good ones are hard to come by. i say get you a cyber-boo and some milk!!!
