"If a man insisted always on being serious, and never allowed himself a bit of fun and relaxation, he would go mad or become unstable without knowing it"
-- Heroditus
"The consciousness of the wicked, faithless cynics wanders around in search of transitory wealth, unstable and distracted. Searching outside of themselves, they are ruined; the object of their search is in that sacred place within the home of the heart."
-- Sri Guru Granth Sahib

BRAVO TO YOU!
Higher Ground is so much better than wallowing in the mud...unless you are a pig!
There are so many walking about the world, wounded and disenfranchised. They strike out in anger hoping to soothe what ails them. Never realizing that happiness is internal...the world, people and things cannot give that to you.
Amen to this!
This was hard-learned lesson for me, but knowing now where true happiness lies seems to make the pain I had to go through to get here worth it.

I love that first quote, for it emphasizes the notion of change...in an indirect way.

@ 1/3 - its a load of sites... too many to name... but I usually just put a particular subject in and it spits out a couple dozen ones... I post the ones that mean the most to me at that moment...

i agree, great quotes
those are some good quotes, but the second one kind of goes over my head. i do not know what it means
@ Stew - I dont think it has a clear meaning...I think its one of those quotes that mean different things to different people... to me it means that you live life outside yourself, trying to find pleasure in everything worldy. You let evil thoughts like envy, glutony, and greed rule your life instead of starting with the heart...
and that's just at this very moment... I could read it again tomorrow and get something totally different from it... I love quotes like that.
